Incorporating the Keep into Chaps 1-7

How could I incorporate that big, bad dungeon into the regular storyline... like how can I justify my party going there within the context of SoA's story?

[IMG] What do you mean? Watcher's Keep is entirely optional... You need not do it till ToB if you don't want to. I wouldn't recommend it either, since it's pretty tough stuff you'll be fighting in there.

I went there early on with only my character(elven fighter/mage) and Yoshimo. Yoshi was level 16 but I don't remember my level. I did both levels 1 and 2 and tried out level 3 but I was meat for the Demons. I highly recommend doing as much as you can there, because of all of the great loot you can find. I got a +4 Scimitar on the first level, along with some quivers of plenty, and a +4(or is it +3?) bastard sword, and a golem manual all with minimal effort required. Also one of the Knights sells some very nice equiptment.

It doesn't really have anything to do with the ToB storyline, it's totally optional and fits into both games.

    Black Rose,

one way to justify visiting WK in SOA is to think of it as a reconnaissance in force. The wards are failing, but not necessarily anytime soon, so you have time to check and find out just what is going on - and get it right :D

I like to make a start on WK as early in the game as possible - generally lvl 1 in chapter 2, lvl 2 (excluding mr chromatic demon) in chapter 3 and lvl 3 (and demon) in chapter 6. This helps to keep the XPs ticking over and leaves some dungeon delving for TOB.

As Lord Sarevok says, there are some very nice items available, both in the dungeon and for sale outside.

Another advantage of making several trips is that you can load the party with items from your cache(s) and move them to storage in WK so they make the transition from SOA to TOB.

And finally, resting in the Keep can trigger some random encounters that may be worthwhile in terms of both XP and items.

Yeah, try resting on the third level of watcher's keep. Some female demons attack you which are really easy to kill. Best of all, they all carry Scimitars +3 and Chainmails +2.
