    Hi,

As you can read in my other threat, I've been going through a game using SK to alter my NPC's classes.

Now, I have Jaheira as a blade dual wielding Daystar and Celestial Fury.
So I'm doing the temple quest and a bunch of mummies walk up to me, I decide to use my shiny daystar special power.

"Jaheira deal 1055 damage to Mummy"

I made a screenshot of it, if you don't believe me. Now my question is, is Daystar really this powerful? Is it a bug?
I have a couple of mods installed, but the only one which could possibly alter weapons is the G3 fix pack, the beta one.

Has anyone else seen this happen?

Oh and how do I send this sreenie for screenshot of the week? :D

Yeah, had that happen loads of times. It isn't that the sword is too powerful- you used it to cast Sunray.

Undead hit by Sunray mut save vs spells or be destroyed- the mummy evidently failed its save and so took the massive damage to ensure it died.

It sounds a lot at first, but I'm afraid this is actually quite a common occurance.

You could email it to Tal. The email id for screenshots is there on the Main Page somewhere...

And as far as the damage goes, that is perfectly normal. Apparently, when undead fail the saving throw against Sunray (which is the spell you are casting via Daystar), they are completely destroyed, ala Finger of Death for living creatures. The game engine does this by causing 1045 or so damage to them to ensure their death. This is similar to using CTRL+Y to autokill creatures by inflicting 1069 or thereabouts dmg.

    In conclusion...its old! :p

Edit: Damn! Decados beat me to it!

    Ah thanks :) .

I was getting worried when I fried a bunch of shadows just now, 4x over 1000 damage.

Heh, I've used Daystar lots of times, but I never noticed the damage before.

You can use priest version of the spell (7th level) for same effect. Followed by a Greater Malison, it is the killer for swarms of vampires. Helm of Glory (Ribald's special store after Underdark) also casts it IIRC.

Oops, you are right, Helm of Brilliance. :o

    Thanks for the confirmation!

Improved Daystar (via item upgrade mod) casts it twice per day, and casts instantly (no casting time) so it is THE vampire killer weapon around. :thumb:
