[IMG] Okay here this goes. I have encountered this same problem while trying to install Neverwinter Nights but the NWN fix does not help with the IWD2 install.

I get the CPC: Error mismatched with setup.cab abort, retry, ignore button. I have tried the reccomended install, minimum and full install choices. Same error. I tried copying both CD's to hard drive and installing from there I still get the same error. I tried 'cleaning" the brand new CD's still get same error. I disabled my Sound Blaster sound card "Which was the fix for NWN install" still get the same error.

No virus software is running nor any windows programs or tsr's.

I am out of ideas of what to try next. Anyone have a clue how to remedy this or had this same problem and found the solution?

    My PC Specs:

    Windows XP professional
    Athlon 1.4 gig T-Bird
    ASUS A7V-133 MoBo
    512 MB PC-133 SDRAM
40 Gb IBM Deskstar ATA100 HDD
    Garnet Geforce 3 TI 200 64 MB
    56X Digital Research CD-ROM
Sound Blster Live Value sound card
Hitachi 751 SuperScan Elite 19" monitor

    Thanks

******* I found the Fix to massive game installation on Windows XP ************

Here is the fix. This is especially true for Windows 2000 and Windows XP as you can read on adpatec's website. My CD-ROM and Hard Drive both run faster now too!!

Hope this helps all those who has game installation errors like I have been!

    Dude.

That's just an aspi layer. That game should have run fine without it. It's one thing if you're extracting audio/burning cd's, it's another when you're just loading a game.

I think it's your cdrom drive. I've had dvdrom drives pop errors like that, and it ended up being a heat/design problem. Swapped it out for a Liteon drive, and everything was cool after that.

The game runs fine. The problem was loading it. With the new aspi layer I no longer have any problems extracting/loading large bit games. Win XP is lacking in this department but thanks to adaptec it is now up to par.
