    Hi,

Well, about 2-3 weeks ago, I had a trojan infecting my computer, which I removed thanks to Norton. However, since I removed it, everytime I double-click a drive in My Computer to open it, I get an error message saying "System cannot find copy.exe...blah blah blah". IIRC, the name of the trojan file was copy.exe, which has been removed.

Now, if I have to open a drive, I have to always right click and select open, because the first/default option for all my HDD partitions is Autoplay, which I'm guessing points towards the copy.exe file, which has now been removed.

What I wanted help with is, is there any method of disabling this annoying Autoplay stuff?? I went to the disk properties screen, but there's no Autoplay tab, like there is for my DVD drive, so I can't disable it that way. A friend of mine said its possible to get rid of this by editing the registry, but I'm not THAT good with Windows XP and neither is my friend...

Help guys!! How do I get rid of this? I REEEEALLY don't want to re-install Windows or format my hard drive or anything like that. I'm hoping there's a simple solution for this!!

Just to get it clear, you have an autorun/-play option for the HDDs and it is now using it by default? Anyway, you can disable the autorun for CD-ROMs etc. from here:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom

Maybe there is something there to disable it for HDDs as well.

No...turns out it was a common problem, I looked around on a tech magazine forum..

Well, its fixed now, but I had to spend all night formatting and reinstalling... :grr:
