[IMG] OK--I have my upgrades all lined up and ready to be shipped, but before I do I want to be sure that NWN can run. My current comp sastisfies the system specs but NWN doesnt run, so I need assurance that it will w/ the upgrades.
    MY NEW SYSTEM:
    196 MB PC100 RAM
    64 MB GeForce2 MX400
    700 mHz Celeron
    Adequate sound card

If anyone is running NWN well using a computer comparable to this one, please post. Also please post if you have a computer comparable to this one and are not able to run NWN well...

Wow, that's new? I have a bit better and I upgraded a year ago. :shake:

Anyway, NWN will run fine on that.

[IMG] My system is very similer
    except i have 750 mhz.
I have been monitering my computer very closly because Neverwinter doesn't always play smooth on my system there are a number of things aside from the hardware to take into account. As I've states several times in other posts.
some big factors that you didn't mention about your system.
    version of windows matters alot.
with your system if you are windows xp/2000 you will more then likely run into problems unless you upgrade your Ram.
Windows ME is going to cause problems not matter what system you have. :p
windows 98 is more then likely what will run best with your system as it is. (if you want to play neverwinter)

another thing to consider is resources which most people don't. in fact microsoft even took out their resource meter which they had in windows 95 and it worked good.
the resource meter mesures severl other aspects of your cpu time which Ram doesn't cover. I'm not going to get into the details here but basicly your pc has a certain amount of resources which break down like this
    system resources
    user resources
    GDI resources
    Ram is seperate
the more of these that are getting used the slower your computer
so even if you had 2 GB of RAM on a 1,500 mhz computer you couldn't run neverwinter if your resources where running at 10%
several things eat up resources on your computer. if you want a copy of the resource meter just let me know I can email it to you it's a small program.
another thing to consider is space on your harddrive if you have 90% or more of your C drive full then you are going to run into problems.
also check to see you have all the latest drivers for your hardware and that they all suport Directx 8

its been about a year since i last posted, but after completed BG2 and planescape torment multiple times i ran out of things to talk about, but now with NWN here, i think i will have plenty to say.

Anyway here are my system specs.

    800mhz AMD duron
    32mb Geforce 2 mx
    128mb ram

The game runs fine, but only after restarting my computer, otherwise i run in to all sorts of problems.

[IMG] Syrel, is that a 750 mHz Celeron? Also, I have Windows ME...what can I do to aviod problems?

  8. Either upgrade to windows 2k or XP. ME isn't a good OS to game in.

My cd-player is a very old 4-spin  and installation as well as the initial training went just perfect.
Also I don't use a separate sound card, but instead rely on the integrated sound on the MoBo (Soltek SL-75KAV/-X), which I believe is the ancient SB Pro.

Ok, the rest of my rig is much better (particularly the 1.4GHz Athlon and the GeForce2MX 200 64MB) but this shows that at least some parts can be at minimum or even below (the cd-player) and the game still works very well.

In case you wonder, my CD-RW is in the shop being repaired and my other cd-player (48x) got destroyed a while ago.

  10. So you bought it Grey? Cool enough ;)
    Here's my specs:
P-2 333 MHz (although it says 334 sometimes)
    96 MB Ram
Geforce 2 GTS 32 MB DD-Ram (faster than MX)
    and a 16x cd-rom drive.

Runs fine when not in biiiiig areas.

    mine is 750 AMD athlon.
but i have to agree with TriLleX The Slayer that Windows ME is very bad for gaming.
you can either upgrade to windows 2k (or xp if you want to substitute speed for GUI)
but if you don't have alot of RAM it would be easier and cheeper to use windows 98. personally i duel boot with win98 and win 2k but i use win 98 for games cause i have less problems.
