No matter the forum I'll answer.

I don't know what is kazaa, but it definetly smells to me like those different warez sites. If that is such site, I think it is not OK.

It's not that I'm against anything illegal, but you're not paying people who need to be payed in order to make another game by using such sites. And I want another game, not bankrupt developers. Right?

    Like Napster?

Such things give me shivers, I'm still on 56K and I can't allow myself to download huge things in such fashion.

But I still won't bless it - the game costs and if you're not willing to pay, you shouldn't be able to play.

Of course, I'm not thinking on freeware games, demos or abandoned games. The best example of full game which is free to download and is a really good game - Betrayal at Krondor. You need no Napster, just go on official Sierra site, they are offering it for free. Classic RPG.

since you cant buy them anymore dont you think that its legal?
the reason that i ask is cause i downloaded a SNES games rpg collection(final fantasy 1-6, chrono trigger, secrets of mana, zelda 3 and some others)

Because you can't buy them anymore does not mean it's legal to download them for free. It just means it's likely nobody will care that you're breaking the law.

They could close down Napster because there was a company behind it, and I believe they had servers to support the trading of the illegal files.

These new file sharing utilities are distributed, so it's far too difficult to do anything about them. They can't outlaw them because they can be used for legitimate file sharing; it just so happens there's plenty of illegal file sharing going on as well.

The whole 'Copyright'/'Intellectual Property' thing exists in the Grey Area of the Law.

Until you start turning floating barges into prisons (which may likely happen within our lifetimes; give it time), Kaza/Napster/Morpheis/Bearshare are going to be around.

But don't get me wrong. That old Apple IIgs sitting in a box in my garage (haven't had the chance to take it down to Salvation Army yet) no longer carries sentimental value for me; I have the emulator...

Kazaa also comes laden with spyware and the BDE Altnet. If you have not heard of Altnet, you have been living under a rock.

Use Kazaa Lite, run a search for Kazaaa Lite in Google to get the exact URL. :)
