[IMG] I created a Lightfoot Halfling rogue in my party, stats Str 12, Dex 18, Con 10, Int 16, Wis 10, Cha 10. At second level, I took a level of Ranger for her, thinking I would get ambidexterity and two-weapon fighting feats. While doing so, I don't recall seeing an option to choose those two on the feats page so I thought I was alright. Upon finishing, I do not see it on the character sheets so doubts began to creep in.

Last night, she reached character level 3 and this time, I took a level of rogue. During the feat selection page, ambidexterity and two-weapon fighting were available for the taking. So now I am sure the ranger level does not automatically grant these two feats. The character description for ranger definitely states that these two feats are free.

So what's wrong? Do I have to start as a ranger to get those two feats automatically? Anyone else encountered this problem?

The Ranger Ambidexterity and Two-Weapon Fighting feats are not identical to the ones you can choose; you must wear light armor for them to be in effect.

This is not true if you select the feats as a Rogue; in that case they will be in effect at all times regardless of what armor you choose to wear.

Thanks for clarifying, BTA. I intend to keep her in light armour so that should be alright. It should have been shown in her character sheet, though.

By the way, are the benefits for the ranger's ambidexterity/two-weapon fighting feats the same as the feats that can be chosen by the other characters? Meaning the improvement to the penalties for dual wielding.

yes, they are exactly the same, except that you can't use them in heavy or medium armor.
