So, I got ToB to actually install but now it won't let me play SoA. If I try and go back it says wrong disk in G Drive or something.

It does work if I just try and play ToB but it does not start me off where I left off. It just throws me into some forest. I assume this is a problem right? I am only level like 6 and 3 of my squad mates are now gone. Would it be possible to somehow go back to right after the first dungeon and pick up from there? Or is ToB a stand alone game?

Honestly, I am just going to buy this tomorrow but I still would like to figure this out if I can. Beyond frusturated since I have spent days trying to get this to work. Will I need to delete all my files before buying the game from GOG I think it is? Or will it work my screwed up ISO copy from my friend?

    ---------- Added 0 hours, 15 minutes and 20 seconds later... ----------

I am so confused now. I tried to start a new game in ToB hoping it would start me in the dungeon but I started in the same place with all this high level gear. Why did I have all that gear?

How do I uninstal ToB and then probably SoA since I am going to just try and buy the game.

I want to be able to play ToB but start from the real game. Is ToB like a stand alone game or something? And again why all the gear? I guess what I really need to know is how to uninstall everything so I can buy the game.

TOB is an expansion that takes place after you finish Shadows of Amn, hence ToB is high level. It is not like a mod which you play during the course of SoA. Yes, you do start in a forest, the Forest of Tethyr.
Why you can't start SoA is the problem, there should be no barrier to that.
You need disk 2 in a real or virtual CD drive in order to play SoA.

There should be an option as the game is loading which you pick either Shadows of Amn or Throne of Bhaal -- I can't remember if it's two differen icons you choose from or a 'yes - no' type question. Choosing to play Throne of Bhaal will put you in the forest at a point after the events of Shadows of Amn. You get the high level stuff to equip you for the high level encounters you will have in ToB. If you did a full install of SoA you shouldn't need to continually swap disks, only having the ToB disk should be good enough. If you did a partial install then you will need content from the disks to play -- you may actually need the ToB disk to start the game and then swap to the disk withthe appropriate content to play.

You want to choose the SoA option when you start the game, finish SoA, and then play ToB. At that point you will be able to import your entire SoA party into ToB.

There is one location in ToB that you can play in SoA -- Watcher's Keep. I would recommend you not go there until in ToB though.

I disagree about waiting until ToB, but I would say you should wait until near the end of the game. Complete all the other SoA side quests first. I've not been able to complete it at anything less than entering at level 13 (gaining a level or two inside), and that took several reloads.

For a first time through I think Watcher's Keep will be challenging in ToB -- in SoA it will be frustrating in the extreme. That said there's a bunch of cool loot to be had in the place ... go there at your own risk (the loot will still be there in ToB).

All of the special stuff, needed for Cespenar to enhance items in the Pocket Plane, that is no good to you until ToB. Also ToB is a bit linear without Watcher's Keep.
