Is there any downfall to this? Jaheira doesn't seem to mind :)

There's one of them (the one asking if you are with the iron throne) that would give you 2 minor potions if you tell him you are an enemy of the iron throne.
obviously, if you attack him you won't get this reward.
Other then that and possibly some Rep loss, there's no real disadvantage though.
Heck, there's even an advantage to it - seeing as how one of them carries around a +2 quarterstaff you can otherwise not get.

I'm unsure how Faldorn reacts to you killing her fellow shadow druids, though i assume you're not taking her along in your party anyway.

You don't get the potions if you kill him?

Laskal has 1 potion of Invulnerability and the +2 staff. Oh yeah, 12 gold and some leather ;) The druids in Cloak Wood don't seem to like Jaheira very much. I wonder what she has to hide?

    Not to my knowledge, no.

Probably the fact that she is a normal druid, as opposed to a shadow druid - where Jaheira's druid 'faction' wants to see balance (Jaheira herself arguably leaning more towards good) the shadow druids take the more agressive path, and believe that nature should drive out civilization with violence.

In BG2, the shadow druids are very clearly the bad guys, I would've assumed they are more or less bad guys in BG as well.

Sorry for hijacking this, but I clicked on the wrong forum and saw it.
On this topic, it seemed to me that Jaheria was of neutral good alignment, while Faldorn was of neutral evil alignment. I just could not reconcile those two both being True Neutral. Especially Jaheria.

Did anybody else get the same impression, regardless of the [2E] rules saying druids must be true neutral and that the game pegs them both as such?

Then again, my P&P group independently invented the 3E rules of druid alignments in 1992 for this reason, in part because the DM wanted to run something like the Shadow Druids as eco-terrorists but nobody in our group could see them as True Neutral, only as Neutral Evil although we liked the concept and the campaign. My point is my judgement might be colored by years of playing with the "must be at least partly neutral" house rule.

You're definitely not the only one - like i mentioned in my original post in this topic, Jaheira leans more to the good side of the spectrum - there's even a component in the BG2 Tweaks mod that allows you to change her alignment to neutral good, since there's a ton of people that feel it fits her persona more.

It's all profit in my experience. First you can pickpocket Aldeth multiple times before helping him fight that group of druids. Then later on, in BG proper, you can rob him again before helping him, and then double-cross him once you've helped him out, if you're so inclined. Oh, and then go find his brother. Heh. None of this ruins your rep or angers party members that I've seen.

Faldorn has never seemed upset about it, either.
