Anyone else astounded, astonished, mindblown and just completely speechless about this?

Nah. He's a diva. He wanted to have the team all to himself, forced out Shaq, and now doesn't want to sleep in the bed that he made. Boo hoo.

not really. Nobody likes feeling like they are the only person on a team doing anything, and that has to be how has felt since shaq left. Granted him and shaq didn't like each other but they played well together.

Wow, might not get a 100 point game if he has to share the scoring with someone.

ESPN radio played a series of soundbites that he's had over the past 24 hours (in chronological order).

"I need to be traded, I don't really see any other alternative."

"I dunno man, that's a big commitment to make."

"I really hope we don't need a trade."

"I love the Lakers, this is my team, I don't want to leave."

    Second thoughts perhaps...

Actually, as it has been revealed now, Kobe was not the one behind Shaq's departure. It was Jerry Buss, who did not want to pay Shaq $30 million a year. Too bad those morons signed Kwame Brown, Vladimir Radmanovic, Brian Cook and Aaron McKie for at least the same amount... :deadhorse: (<-- insert the Lakers management in place of the horse)

Kobe can duck the Shaq thing all he wants. He wanted to be the man, then found out that it was harder than it looked. He never came out and said Shaq had to go, but he also never came out and said he wanted Shaq to stay. If Kobe had wanted Shaq there, Shaq would still be there.

No, he wouldn't, as the Lakers management didn't want to pay Shaq that much money (as I said in my last post).

I think you're both right. I think that Buss didn't want to pay Shaq. I also think that if Kobe had talked to Buss and said figure out a way to sign him or I'm going to check out free agency and look for a team with a center, then Buss would have tried his hardest to re-sign Shaq. Might not have happened, but it certainly would have played out differently.
