Microsoft restricts some potential users

    It is a useless provision in the EULA as far as preventing people with Vista Home or Premium from running it in a virtual machine, and one that I assume will only serve to cover MS's ass.

    No home user will pay attention to the restriction if they don't want to (most probably don't even know what's in the EULA), so the only thing this provision does is cover for MS in case some security breach is exploited while using Vista in a virtual machine - they can point to the EULA and say "Well, we told you not to do it.".

    Good point BtA but I have a question.

    If you have a professional set up your virtualization program won't you be advised to buy the more expensive program or even have them insist upon.

    I do not know what liability a professional would have.

    Good question. Based on experience with other things I would imagine since they have no vested interest in MS, they would tell their customers the truth and let them decide.
