I need BIG info, because everything I've read about Elminster and Khelben is rather to little...
Can you tell me who is Elminster and who is Khelben, who is Maugrym and what characters are they? Does other gods besides Mystra has their Chosens and powerful Mages and Fighters?

Bane and Eillistraee are the only ones beside Mystra that I know have "chosened" people

Fzoul is of Bane, and one of the seven sisters is chosen of Eillistraee (and of mystra too)

I think Maugryms are a sort of shapeshifting evil monsters from outside of Faerun. I suggest you just read the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, or whatever books there are on the characters in question.

I thought Cadderly was a Chosen of whoever his god was.

I wouldn't say Elminster is the most powerful mage. He might be the most powerful multiclassed character, but I've seen more impressive mages than old El himself.

I dont know about 2e, Telamont in 3e is a wizzy lvl 35.

Else we got Larloch the lich, mean wizzy as well. Perhaps not as much in levels as in equipment, got around 2 dozen ioun stones flying about him.

I read a book about Elminster, telling the story of how he became one of the most powerfull mages in the FR. It started him at real young age and ended just before he went to study with some elven mages. During the course of the book he was a figher, a thief and even a cleric. So he's actually a dualclassed F/T/C/M, exact the maximum number of times you could dualclass under 2nd edition rules. So he's probably actually a 2F/3T/7C/29M. (level 7 cleric because I recall him flying once, a spell probably recieved by the casting of 'anyspell). It's been a while since I read the book, so I could be wrong.

Actually, according the the FRCS (3E), Elminster has a whole bunch of classes. He has a dabbling of levels (two or so each) in Fighter, Rogue, and Cleric (of Mystra). He is then a very high-level wizard (twenty-five or so). Then the five levels in the Archmage Prestige Class.

I have no idea what he is in stat-block form for 2E, but I imagine he would simply be a high-level mage. Just because he displays a few things pertaining to D&D classes in the books doesn't necessarily mean that he is like those classes in stat-block form.
