I'm playing BG2 yet again
I have never found these items so would anyone please tell me where they are?

Crom Faeyr ( I got the scroll )
The Equalizer (I only got the pommel jewel)
Some scimitars that are better than Belm and Rashads Talon
And a good bow for Imoen.

Feel free to tell me of any other good items you know of too

Well the hammer of the Crom Fayer can be found in the Illithid Layer beneath the Temple District, in the sewers.

 

Well, let's see :

Crom Fayr:
-Scroll: Firnkragh
-A belt of ice giants strenght: Underground west exit
-Hammer: With Tazoks key in the canalisation of Alkathla
-Gaunlets of ogre strenght: Planar sphere at Alkathlas slums

The Equalizer:
-Pommel: Increnius dungeon
-Blade: South exit at the underground areas
-Last piece (the thing where you put the blade in): East exit at the underground

 

For Crom Feyr, the Belt is on one of the Demon Knights right before you exit the Underdark, the Gloves are found in the Planar Sphere. The Hammer of Thunderbolts is at the Mindflayers under the Sewer (there is a group of baddies there, can't miss it) and the Scroll is from the Shadow Dragon of course.

The Gesen Bow is pretty good for Imoen, does not sue ammo. If you want a bow that uses ammo, the the Tuguan (sp) Bow from the Beastmaster at the Copper Coronet is fairly decent as well.

 

Elaborating on Blackthorne TA's post, the Frost Giant Belt of Strength is obtained through defeating the demon knights. You have to sacrifice something to the Demogorgon statue, then defeat the demon knights that appear afterwards. You also get two other nifty items (forgot what they were). No Kuo-toa are directly involved.

 

i just feel like saying that the two exits the other guy is talking about in the underdark is a beholder lair and a mind flayer lair....it is definitively worth to go in and kill everything (as it always is because of the xp).
the hilt of the equalizer is in mind flayer lair and the blade for the equalizer is in the beholder lair.

as for the strength belt for the cromfayer.....i think u gotta summon an animal in front of the statue at the underdark kua tou lair part...(last part before entering the area where the elves and drows fights), thus u have sacrificed to the statue and several demon knights is summoned....kill them and loot their body, one of them should have the belt....

anyway i encountered something weird....when i got those items the cromfayer needs to forge into something he always left one of the pieces behind so he took the shaft for the gesen but let me keep the string....weird....i had all the items in a bag of holding.

Ok I just entered the underdark, I have always steered clear of the Ilithid lair in the past, because I always have a tendency to lose my brain

Do you have some useful tactics for fighting Mind Flayers too?

Oh by the way how do I get the other part of the silver blade?

 

Does Chaotic Commands prevent from sucking out my brain?

By the way you can suggest what I should use if you want

here is my party:

Jesper lvl 12 Kensai Dualwielding Belm/Rashads Talon
I'm wearing the cloak of mirroring, ring of protection + 2, amulet of 5% magic resistance, boots of grounding, charisma ring, and girdle of sharpness (or whatever it is called).

Keldorn lvl 11 inquisitor using his default gear.

Minsc lvl 11 ranger using Sword of Chaos +2, platemail +1, girdle of bluntness and helm of balduran.

Anomen lvl 12/7 Cleric/Fighter using Rod of lordly might and mace of disruption against undead, shield of harmony +2, shadow dragon armor, ordinary helmet, ring of protection +1 and amulet of power.

Imoen lvl 11/7 Mage/thief using Arbanes short sword + 2, The nights gift + 5, periapt of proof against poison, and ring of invisibilty.

Aerie lvl 10/11 Cleric/mage using Robe of Vecna, Arlas dragonbane sling+3, pearly white loun stone, cloak of the sewers, girdle of fortitude and metaspell influence amulet.

Hmm I ´should change the topic title since this have become a help-me-I-suck-badly topic

i see u got a little low level chars...that means u play on a low difficulty or have missed some quests...(my chars was around level 16-19 then).
anyway....in the mind flayer lair u should be able to get some potions from a mind flayer baby thing (looks like a jar of water) drink this and u will get immune to "brain drinking" for a short time.....also summon alot of monsters to fight the mind flayers....

 

Thanks I barely managed to defeat the mind flayers and the only way I was able to defeat the elder orb was to use a control circlet on the other beho0lder

Yeah, Illithids (or Mindflayer) cast spells like "Mind blast" or "Psionics", wich can charm or stun your character..

 

Yes, but it doesn't prevent the intelligence drain. Much like a vampire's level drain, intelligence drain is a percentage chance which occurs when you have been physically hit by them. I don't think there is a way to prevent the drain itself, other than hit-and-run tactics.

 

to avoid the intelligence drain....summon monsters to fight the mind flayers...
also note that each time ur intelligence is drained....it is drained 5 points.
once the intelligence drops to zero, the char dies.

so do as the guy somewhere above suggested....summon monsters or do the hit-and-run thing. be sure u keep the char with low int away from the mind flayers.....maybe bows and summoned monsters work well (drink those potions too).

 

I think after level 15, Animate Dead summons skeletal warriors, which have nice magic resistance and are decent fighters. They work pretty good against mind flayers.

When I cleaned out the room in the sewers, I cast Chaotic Commands and other buffing spells on Keldorn (who had Carsomyr). Mind flayers wasted all their spells on him, then I moved the rest of my party in to mop up with missile weapons.

 

They didnt seem to have any problems hitting my -7 ac Minsc, and every time I fought Ulitharids(sp) I had to change into the slayer so when I finally got back to the surface my reputation was 8
