Need some tactics on how to defeat the yuan-ti dragon

i made many resets in this boss.. i can't defeat this dragon.. it is immune to any attacks and also almost of my magics dosen't work with this dragon.. guys can you give me some strategies and hints on how can i defeat this dragon? i have a warrior,a bard,a sorcerer,a wizard,a cleric and a ranger in my party.. pls help me out..

Are you playing normal mode or HoF?

I can't give you any tips about HoF, but for normal mode, this fight ought to be a pushover.

You just have to prepare for it. Pick the right spells to memorize, and rest before the fight.

Cast every protection spell in your arsenal before the fight. Make sure those include protection from acid, protection from fear, and stoneskin for your three meleers. Also make sure your cleric has a coupla "Heal" memorized.

Then leave only your fighter, ranger and cleric near the altar to fight the dragon. Park your spell-casters on the stairway. Have them them launch Malison and Lower Resistance at the dragon. Then use Lightning damage spells, Disintegration and Finger of Death. If I remember correctly, I killed the dragon on the 3rd combat round with a disintegrate.

 

u got a wizard AND a sorcerer? cool. now, what i did, (and always do) is do a few malison spells on the dragon and then keep doing disintigrate and flesh to stone till one of them works. do as Arutha said and protect your party before, but after some malisons, the dragon is as weak as a kitten! just keep him busy and not interested in your spellcasters.
perhaps you could lower the diffuculty level just for the fight and put it back up when you are ready?

Disintegration. With Greater Spell Focus: Transmutation and Greater Spell Penetration it *just* works. Without, it should work *finally*.

I Suppose level also has something to do with this fight..

First time i fought/beat him, i was Disappointed ... I had it on normal, and had been soloing the game as a Paladin..

*Shrugs* He looked Impressive.. but after a few moments, he died.. I just shook my head, and moved for the gate..

hey guys! i've defeated that dragon w/the use of this spells, faerie fire,lower resistance then disentegrate! instant death guys!

 

Vae Victis! Woe to the vanquished..

 

Heh, the funny thing is that faerie fire has nothing to do with magic resistance - just some nice glow around the victim. At the beginning it's moderately useful, but later... when every AC or AB point counts it may change the fortune in battle.
