I have started another DAO character I plan to finish the game and take the completed game save into DA2. Before I decided on my DAO plans I was not sure if I wanted to play DAO and DA2 or ME1 and ME2. I recently complete ME2 game with my ME1 saved character. I thought long and hard about my decision and decided ME series was not the way to go right now. I have a good feeling that by the time I complete my DAO play through Bioware/EA will have a DLC or two out worth purchasing for DA2.

I am playing a Human Male Mage, because the human mage character in DAO is related to Hawke. I want to see if there is any mention in DA2 that the Warden and Hawke are related. By the end of DAO after the final fight, the Warden will request to release the chantry rule over the mages.

I’m not sure how I want to play the character out. Should I be a good guy, and always try to do the right thing? Or should I be a complete ass, and treat everyone like they are second rate citizens? Not sure how I want to go about my character personality.

I do know that if I play the badass in DAO, I plan to play the same type of character in DA2.

Pick either. There are examples of good rebels (both peaceful and armed) and bad (mass murderers or future tyrants in waiting).

I lean towards good guys so I would be for the former but this is your character.

That said do you have another idea
and your idea is right. I cannot remember the details but somehow the Warden from DA:O is said to be a relative-perhaps a cousin or something like that.

The human mage from DAO is the cousin of Hawke and that is why I am playing a human mage and uploading the completed save into DA2. As for my character personality - should I be mean and a hard ass or a nice guy that does all the right things.

In ME terms - Paragon or Renegade...

One thing I'd like to see how they answer is the question of elf mages (which I finished DA:O as).

Most humans don't have elves as cousins and the society doesn't seem to lend itself to mixed race families.

The elf mage is not related to Hawke. The human mage is related to Hawke, because Hawke mother maiden name is Amella and so is the human mage origin in DAO.

    Male Human Mage Update

So I started my Male Mage Warden character out. He is a mean SOB and doesn’t take crap or cares about anyone but himself. He started out his means streak with Mouse, you all know the Pride Demon. From there, he continued on his insulting ways by being completely rude to Jowan after he woke up from the Harrowing. From there Irving, Gregor, and Duncan were all insulted. Jowan once again was insulted, I mean come on, Jowan could have done better than Lily, the fat cow (just going by what you can state in the game). From there I went to Irving and insulted him a bit more. Insulted Orwain, the Female Enchanter who is afraid of spider, etc… By the time he was ready to help Jowan he has insulted most of the tower and was ready to help his friend escape. Of course that didn’t work out that well and Duncan comes in and saves the PC, because of his skill and his loyalty to his friend at least that is what Duncan thought. The PC leaves with his new found staff from the magical tomb and off to Ostagar. There the insults to Alister, Loghain, and a few others continue.

The Marbari was spared suffering any longer by my Warden’s knife and so was the solider outside of Ostagar. Sten life was not spared simply because how his kind treats mages. No need to have him as part of the team. Alister, his whinning ways is getting annoying – if it wasn’t for the gifts he may not be with the Warden right now; never checked to see if a NPC leaves if the approval goes to zero or close to it. Morrigan has a very high approval and Leliana was allowed to tag along because the Warden likes that she is a bit crazy with the Maker talk and all.

Right now the group of PC, Alister, Morrigan and Leliana are headed off to the mage tower to save Connor. Even though my mage is a total jerk, there is no need to use blood magic or kill innocent kids. My character is rude but not evil.

    Hahahah, great intro :D

I'm really expecting having difficulty trying to play a good guy, with all the ways this game gives you to play as.
I did a similar run recently, though i chose to disregard the whole issue of morality. True Neutral in non-existence of good&evil sense. That usually resulted in taking the "evil" path, though not always.

I'm fairly certain blood magic isn't inherently evil. It's dangerous and has some uncomfortable areas of influence, but it's merely another tool. It's just that a majority of people in Thedas regard it as epitome of evil, thanks to Chantry dogma.
Come to think of it, i'm sure it's been likened to Spirit Healer magic somewhere in the game. As in, both being dangerous tools to wield, dealing with powerful Fade spirits.

My character isn't evil; just rude. I mean leaving Sten behind isn't evil or anything like. My character left him behind, because his fate is based on what he did to those innocent farmers. The dog, well; he looked sick and in my own personal experience we put a dog to sleep if it has a very slim chance of survival, so I did it service by killing it now rather than later.

I killed the prisoner in Ostagar for the same reason. He was going to die anyway either by Darkspawn or be put on a pike; my PC spared him and killed him.

Knowning the outcome of the fade, chances are Connor will look like he was saved, but not really. This way the PC can get something powerful for himself. I have stated that the PC is all about himself regardless of who he hurts along the way. The PC is still at Redcliffe castle and may go back in and kill Connor's mom to move onto bigger and better things; but at the same time he has a chance to go back to the Mage Tower and make a request. Hmmm... What to do....

This goes beyond just being "rude" and moves dangerously close to evil. What if getting what what you want involves enslaving, or even slaughtering a village of farmers? That would be pretty evil. Perhaps not Chaotic Evil, to use a D&D term... but Neutral Evil doesn't seem like a stretch. Based on the way you explain your character, it sounds like he'd be willing to do this, and therefore, is probably evil.

If you go by the AD&D term than NE it is. He went into the fade and took the demons offer and let the demon reside in Connor for more power. He sided with the werewolves simply because he didn't trust the Dalish elves. Next he is off to find Brother Tenavini.

In my current human mage play through I noticed a Dwarf named Varick is in the proving area for the audience. His name is highlighted in yellow but he doesn’t really state anything. I wonder if that is Varick from DA II…

I completed DAO yesterday with my Male Mage Human origin who often took the darker road to achieve his goal of slaying the arch demon. Of all the NPC only three made it to the final battle: Logain – the newest member of the Grey Warden’s, Lileana – the rogue who is not 100% trust worthy because she is a spy after all, and finally Morrigan – the witch that my PC fell in love with that disappeared after the final battle.

Orgen was released right before the final battle – my character didn’t want to die because of his drunk arse.

Alistar and Anora – don’t they make a cute couple.
Behlen is now the king of Orzzamar
    Connor– he is now missing
Mage Tower – finally freed from Chantry control – about time
Dalish Elves – Freed from the curse
RedCliff – Bella now runs the tavern and the city was saved by the Hero
Logain – Is now in charge recruiting for the Grey Warden – makes perfect sense with his natural leadership – that is why he was recruited in the first place
Lileana – left to go after Madalene
Morrigan – took off with her unborn child – Warden will chase her down in about a year or so
PC – will stay around to help Alister and his queen
