    Dear All

I don't know if this is true, but I hope so. Anyway, I just recieved th following email:

As some of you may know there is a census coming around on August the 7th (in the UK). For those who don't know, a census is where the government collates general information about its residents (number of people living in your house, religion, etc).

If there are enough people, who put down a religion that isn't mentioned on the census form it becomes a fully recognised and legal religion. It usually takes about 10,000 people to nominate the same religion. It is for this reason that it has been suggested that anyone who does not have a dominant religion to put "Jedi" as their religion. Send this on to all your friends and tell them to put down "Jedi" on their census form. And remember......If you are a member of the Jedi religion then you are by default a 'Jedi Knight'. So if this has been your dream since you were 4 years old.... Do it because you love Star Wars, If not........... then just do it to annoy people.

"May the Force be with you!"

[IMG] Heh.. Here's a quote from Elanor on this subject:

Are there no fines for false information in the UK?

I recently read that in Australia the government threatened to fine everyone who put 'Jedi Knight' under religion. Somebody encouraged people to do this over the internet.

    You might want to reconsider...

Ah, but who said anyhthing about false information. Surely in a free society people should be allowed to worship whatever they want (provided that it causes no harm to others). It's certainly an improvement on devil worship.

Anyway, it would certainly make an interesting test case in law - people's right to freedom of speech (which I don't think we actually have in the UK despite the fact that we all think we have) versus Governement's petty minded bureacracy.

PS if you do do this on the forms and then get fined don't sue me - I didn't do it, nobody saw me, you can't prove a thing!

I can just imagine the look on the government agent's face when he looks at my national service form and sees 'human' put into 'race' and 'jedi knight' put into religion. LOL

[IMG] This reminds me of a danish comedian who ran for election some years ago. He promised longer lunchbreaks and wind in the back on the bikingpaths. Surprisingly, he got into the danish government.

The point is, that a party or independent person needs atleast 2% of the votes. In this case, more than 25.000 people voted for him. Good laugh.

You've just got to love the Danes - such a well balanced, everything in perspective type of people. Sadley, it makes me miss my Danish ex-girlfriend even more. Ah well, the life of a jedi is a harsh and lonely one.
