[IMG] Now, I'm not highly familiar for Feats in 3rd edition(1st and 2nd edition all my life), but what about some of the specialized abilities that we saw for kits in BG2, are they going to be feats now? Like the Dispel Magic at 2X level for the Paladin kit Inquisitor, as they were originally gonna keep that as a kit. Is that going to be available as a feat for instance? I don't know about you, but the kit names often sounded cooler than the normal class names: Archer, Kensai, Assassin, Undead Hunter, Blade, etc, etc. Am I alone in this viewpoint?

While the kit names may be cooler, that's really their only advantage over the new multiclassing system.

The main thing is that you have much more flexibility in this new system. You can make your character into an 'archer' as a fighter, a ranger, a rogue, or even a wizard (or any combination of of the above) by selecting the appropriate feats. Now, instead of what kits the game designers bothered to program, you can essentially design your own.

I doubt many of the special kit abilities will be added as feats, but its possible. Kits cause a lot more balance issues (and bugs too, IMHO) than the straight 3e game.

Also 3rd edition doesn't have kits any more, the only similar thing to that is prestige classes which are classes with only ten levels you can pick up if you have fulfilled some prerequisites ( like a certain base attack bonus, some ranks in one skill, ability to cast certain spells etc.) and from what I've heard so far there won't be prestige classes in IWD 2

There will be no kits and no prestige. That's designers' final word.

[IMG] I can see why not having prestige classes is an issue. Or should I say I'd like to see them but I understand why they are not in IWD2. But 3E feats & Skills ae so much better for character development then kits so who cares. I for one am glad IWD2 is 3E with no kits. Maybe in the expansion (if the game does well you know there will be one) they will add rules for prestige classes and epic levels.

We'll just have to keep our eyes open.

Actually I'd much more prefer it if you could role-play into a prestige class, for example the inquisitor, only if you had uncovered some church plot and then the church gave you authority to start messing arround with stuff could you pick it up as a prestige class, that would be nice, instead of just saying when I reach 7th level I'll become an inquisitor and then at 10th I'll be a fist of helm or whatever, ofcourse there are no prestige classes but when they use them it would be nice if they insert them like that

[IMG] An excellent point. That the way you should run prestiege classes in table top and CRPGS, that stress role-playing should work the same way. Make the PC go on a quest or some other event (as suggested above) in order to 'qualify' for the prestiege class. This makes the whole experience both more realistic and more enjoyable.

OK, I believe some kit-specific abilities (like the Cavalier's +3 against demons and dragons, and the Votary's +3 against clerics and druids) will be added to IWD2 as feats.
