No sound on YouTube videos

    [​IMG] I'm sure this is something really basic but the sound has vanished when I play YouTube videos. It works fine on games and music but nothing on YouTube. I have checked that the video itself is not muted and I turn the YouTube volume up fully. I am using Firefox.

    Good question. Just tried it and it doesn't work on IE either. I know the answer is going to be something really basic.

    And sound on everything else works fine? Including videos on say, Google Video and other sites?

    I tried a few videos on Google Video and no sound there either. I am sure I have had sound from website videos on this PC before.

    It sounds like it might be a codec issue to me. When did you last update Windows Media Player and Flashplayer?

    I had the same problem too, searching around I found this solution. It worked for me (deleting wavemapper).

    Thanks for the advice. I have managed to fix it now. It wasn't a version thing and it wasn't wavemapper. I went into the control panel and opened up the Realtek audio controls. There was lots of weird stuff in there like how to make a bee fly around your PC in 3D sound, but I changed a setting in there to make my output sound go from a centre speaker to a front speaker and now it seems to work. Not sure why it had to be so complicated or what it all meant, but there you go.

    Now I can listen to crappy sound effects as well as watching crappy videos on YouTube! Hooray!

    Sounds like you had your speaker setup to be 6 or more speakers. How many spekers do you have, and how many audio plugs did you connect to your computer?

    For example, I have a 4-channel set up which uses the green and black jacks of the audio output block of my motherboard to give me two front and two side speakers (plus a subwoofer).

    I have two side speakers and one woofer thing. They all plug in via one green coloured plug to the back of the computer. It was the output setting of the green plug that I seemed to have done incorrectly before.
