BADGE :You get a badge when you completed the ISLAND QUEST. You can go to the ISLAND QUEST when you have a TICKET and a PASSWORD. You get a TICKET and a PASSWORD when you complete two other quests. What two other quests? Go play the game! (go back)
CAD: In windows'95 a "close program" screen will pop up first. Close the "DOS GAME" to quit NW. Go back to AOL and restart game. This will bring you back close to where you left off. CAD tips: 1. To prevent losing any unreadied items in your inventory when you're about to die, CAD as soon as you see your character falls. 2. When using CAD to get out of a PVP fight do not reenter the (same) fight. It's considered bad form.
DIR DIS: In PVP combat there is an unwritten rule somewhere that you're not suppose to cast Dispel Magic directly onto an opponent. However since it is an area-effect spell you can cast it on a nearby monster and hope that it will rub off on to your opponent as well. (go back)
GATE: You will end up near the border (gate) of the town grid (16x16 square) nearest to NW. Veterans use this feature to travel back to NW when they're in a hurry.
HOOK: To hook to a character (ask for permission first!) view the character then select "follow". It's on the bottom left hand corner of the screen. TIP: When you're hooked to someone don't try to move by yourself otherwise you may get "unhooked". However, you will automatically re-hook again when you arrive at the same square as your leader. ( Go back )
NH?: Joining a battle without asking is considered rude because you will be sharing the XP's (if the fight was won). TIP: If you need help in a fight don't type "NH". To another player, it may seem that are asking somebody else and left off the question mark. When I was a NEWBIE I type :"HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!". Worked every time.
PUNT: You may get disconnected from the Game computer but you may still be connected to AOL. Close the DOS game (if still open) and also the DOS Game Loader (use CAD in win'95). Bad line noise is usually the culprit. Three things you can do. (1). Change modem speed to 14.4k. (2). Get the phone line fixed. (3). Try a better modem.
PVP: This is one reason why this game is so addictive. Not only you can fight along side other players but you can fight them as well! No melee combat (yet), only with spells. So if you like PVP, be a CLAM. NOTE: PVP is allowed in certain areas only. (Go back )
QUEST: There are nine quests in NW ranging from easy (Brass Button) to deadly (Island Quest & Life-Giver). Items gained from the quests can be traded to Lord Nasher for gems or even better goodies. ( Go back )
SNK: To sneak, select "SEARCH". If you can sneak then the submenu will show where you can go (eg. ahead, left, right). If you can't sneak you will only see SEARCH- ON or OFF. Also you may have backed off too far, or the fight has just ended. (You will notice that the names of the characters changed from yellow to blue.) It may also mean that there are fights in the next two squares. In this case you'll see the prompt "You can't sneak anywhere!"
TAB: It is a very good idea to disable the trading (receiving) feature at the end of each transaction. Some characters maybe giving you "illegal" stuff that will land you in "JAIL". You cannot get out of jail until you satisfactorily explain how or why you ended up with a hacked item. TIP: You don't need to TAB to receive money, gems, or jewelry. ( Go back )

A Note on Special Screen Characters: There are 6 special characters that you can type in the keyboard such as the smiling face, frowning face, sword, heart, and music note. They are located on the number keys (shifted position) starting from the reverse empersan key (the little wave thing above the TAB key) to the number 5. TIP: You can also get a square block of color with the "Ctrl - E" key combo. I use them to draw mugs, cigars and dynamite (with a short fuse).

Lot's of it I know. But who knows it could be the next sw33t t41k! JK! But good to know.
