Well, I finally buckled under and got the NWN trilogy. Three newbie questions:

    1) How do I assign "Turn Undead" or the like to a hotkey? It's easy to do it for items - just drag 'em down to the quickbar. Seems like it should be pret' easy...but I can't seem to manage it.

    2) I see that Bluff and Intimidate were added in the newest expansion pack, but you can still add points to them in the original game. So, are points invested in Bluff and Intimidate worthless 'til HotU? Tumble still works.

    3) Same with the whip - it's the closest I can get to my beloved spiked chain, but I haven't found any in the opening training chapter. Does this weapon show up in the first game, or only in the expansions?

Oh, OK, one more question. Where should I hang that Aribeth poster?

I can only answer the first question, I'm not sure about the others.

To assign abilities to a hotkey, r-click on the hotkey slot at the bottom, then use the menus to find class skills (it's bottom left, I think, then it's on the new menu that appears). Then just click on the skill and it'll appear on the quickslot.

Alavin covered your first question. As for the others, stuff that was added in the expansions will not appear in the original module. So there is no use for Intimidate or Bluff, and you won't find any of the new weapons.

As for the poster... well... I'll leave that alone. :)

I'm playing through SOU again after a good long break. I have had the option to use the Bluff and Intimidate skills. Not sure if you can in the OC.

Whips show up only in HoTU. But they do crappy 1d2 damage and require an Exotic Weapon feat while only granting you the Disarm ability for free, which is quite useless without the Improved Disarm feat.

Of course, you could always use the toolkit and add whips into the shops of the OC and SoU.

But whips are just so darn cool!

Alas, once I found out whips were unavailable, it was all downhill from there - I've already made my first concession to powergaming. I wanted my rogue-cleric to use a morningstar, but switched to a rapier so I could use weapon finesse. It gave me an extra +3 to hit...but I'm so ashamed...I've sold out for just a +3!
