[IMG] I have the OEM version of Nero 5.5 for a Samsung CD-RW drive running in XP.
How do I overburn? Or even change the settings for maximum capasity?

I have a few files of 730-750MB. Movies basically. And I want to fit them into a regular 700MB CDR. But Nero just wont allow me. I thought switching on the overburn option would be enough but NOT. The help file is latin.
I managed to get an 800MB CDR but Nero doesn't recognise it as such. It still stubbornly believes that 700MB is the limit. How do I make Nero recognise it?

Here For Nero 5.5 problem with over-length media.

Here For how to do overburning. (Third one down)

Apparently not all CD writers can do it though, so I guess you should make sure your Samsung drive can first...

There's all kinds of info on the Nero site.

There's another issue with Nero regarding overburning - it simply won't even pop up the option to do it if you are using Nero Express (the "EZ" version of the burning process). You have to do it via the real thing, then when the burning process starts it'll pop up a window asking you if you want to overburn.

Keep in mind that you can expect to overburn 15-20 MB max on regular CDs, and not even that much on many. The only way to find out how much you can overburn is via trial & error for each brand and type of CD.

As for 800MB CDs - keep in mind that not all CD-RW drives support them. All newer ones should, but older ones don't. I have a Plextor 8/4/32A and it can't burn 800MB CDs.

You can overburn quite a bit - I've done some tests, and managed to overburn 50 megs once. Tried it on another CD, exactly the same brand out of the same pack (Phillips Silver-gold CD-Rs of a few years ago), and it didn't work. So, unless you really need to, try not to overburn too much.
