yo, is there anyway to change the way the paperdoll looks?

You know, the thing that represents your character in the inventory and in-game

[IMG] A couple of ways... Changing your gender or race will change the paperdoll too. ;)

But in-game without restarting? No. You're stuck with it. And be glad. They're much worse in BG2.

  3. I think it's possible with gatekeeper.

Paperdoll? what? Are you referring to those characters figurines where you get to choice the colourscheme and hair colour?

[IMG] I can't see how it's possible with GateKeeper.

Btw, how do I switch to custom portrait in BG1?

Yes, a paperdoll, i.e. that 2d image of your character in the inventory screen you slap clothes and stuff on.

You switch your portrait with gatekeeper (unless you can do it with the 'customize' button next to the export one (In case you ask how to use custom portraits at all, you do that when picking your character portrait at the start of the game. Klick on 'custom' instead of choosing a portrait.)), and the paperdoll changes when you change your character appearance with gatekeeper. You can't change just one, they're related. (And different classes have different paperdolls too, not just different races and genders.)

[IMG] You can change your Paper Doll with the Cheat Console. Here's how to do it if you haven't opened the Cheat Console before:

    1) Go into your 'Baldur's Gate' folder, and open the file 'Baldur.ini'.

    2) Scroll through until you find the section 'Game Options', and add the line of text "Cheats=1" (without the quote marks).

WARNING: It's best to make a backup copy of the file before you do this, as there's a chance something will go wrong and you'll screw your game up (god knows, it's happened to me enough in Planescape: Torment!)

    3) Start up Baldur's Gate. While playing, press CTRL + Tab to open the Cheat Console. Type in "CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys()" (without the quote marks).

    4) You should now be able to change the way your main character looks by pressing CTRL + 7 to cycle through all the different creatures (pressing CTRL + 6 takes you back one). Some of them (the ones that you can get from the Character creation screen) will have paper dolls

Yet another WARNING: I'd only change your character into one that has a paper doll, i.e. I wouldn't go around the game as a Carrior Crawler or an Ogre or something like that, as I've got no idea what impact this has on the actual game. But using this cheat, you can change the Paper Doll of your character to whatever you like (i.e. Human Fighter, Dwarven Cleric etc.)

    Hope this helps/isn't too complex...

I dunno about BG1, but in BG2, if you do what LittleJimmy said, your game will freeze.

You can change it with GateKeeper if you go to appearance.

The CLUAConsole thing won't cause the game to freeze, the Gate/Shadowkeeper one can.

[IMG] I know that some things using the CLUA Console make the game crash, for example I can't use that secret 'Cowkill' spell without the game crashing and taking me back to the Desktop. I think it might depend on your computer or something...

    [IMG] There is indeed...

    Spoiler:

In the Friendly Arm Inn, you'll find someone called Unshey, whose Girdle was stolen by an Ogre. Kill the Ogre, who's one map South, and you'll find he has two Girdles. One of them is a Girdle of Piercing, +4 AC vs Piercing attacks, and one of them is the Cursed Girdle of Masculinity/Femininity. This one changes your Character's gender, and is cursed (quite obviously)...

[IMG] You can play a caracter that hasn't a paperdoll! I did it for a whil, I believe as a Gnoll, but I'm not sure. In Bg2 I was Bodhi al;l the time, she has no paperdol, and the game didn't crash!

in BG1 it will crash if you have no paperdoll and enter the inventory but BG2 is slightly more tolerant of things like that.

You can change the avatar with cheat keys (Ctrl+6 or Ctrl+7) though when you reload it changes back (it also changes the paperdoll)
    (CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys())
