[IMG] Can I protect a folder (in the explorer window) from being seeing? I have some documents and photos (family things I shouldn't have to have in my work computer) that I don't want other people to watch.
I tried put them in a zip file but winzip does protect it with a password but just for extraction meaning that when you click on the zip you see what's in there (beach.jpg, letter.doc, etc); Changing atributes is not an option because you still see the folder. Any ideas?

On Windows XP there is this leaf for "sharing." Under it should be an option for "make this folder private." It wasn't available for me when I checked it, but maybe it can solve the problem for you. You can also try to find a suitable tool for this from snapfiles.com

Hiding things is the worst possible way to protect anying on a computer! :nono:

If anyone knows to to "Show all hidden files and folders", you are screwed! Not very smart. :rolling:

Sydax, Get WinRAR. You can password protect the archives you create with that :) . Dunno how effective it is, though (but I think it's pretty decent).

Winrar actually protects the file from corruption, not from other people.

You could save something in a .zip or .rar file, then change it to say a .tmp file and make it hidden. Not too many people would realise that they would have to change the file back to .rar or .zip to use it. Other than that you can buy programs like folder lock, but thats a bit conspicuous, kinda like having a pr0n cleaner on your hard drive.
