Paul Newman has died

    This is a truly sad day. A great actor and a great man has passed from this world. I just got the news from Beren while in FAI.

    A great man has passed.

    There is a short article about his career and life on the imdb.

    He was more than just an (outstanding) actor, he was a wonderful human being. He had the ability to make the silver screen come to life and no matter what role he played you couldn't help feeling sympathy for his character.

    The Hustler, Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Color of Money are all among my favourite movies and it was his acting and his presence that made them great.

    I watched the scene from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in which he is fooling around on a bicycle while we listen to Burt Bacharach's song Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head (link). That's the way I want to remember him.

    This is such a shame :cry:

    Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is one of my father's favourite movies. And The Sting will always be one the most original and surprising movies I've seen.

    We will always remember him as a guy who tried. And succeeded more often than not.
