Because I don't want to clutter up the main IC thread, here's this so that we can discuss the game OOC, clarify things, and get piratey links together. Character descriptions too

This place is great for information on everything pirate: http://blindkat.hegewisch.net/pirates/pirates.html

This is another general site: http://www.thepiratesrealm.com/

And here is a site of potential interest - clothes and stuff (specifically to the female clothes section, as that was what I was looking for): http://www.geocities.com/ancasta1/woman.htm

Edit: While the last post I made is, in fact, a filler, I would like to point out that any god refered to is not necessarilly an established one. As I remember, in the last game we had some kind of sea god, but I doubt he/she would be appropriate for Abell to pray to.
Alternatively, it could be refering to the Christian god and his commandments, whatever works in this world.

I am going on holiday from sunday for three weeks, so you'll have to play around my characters somewhat for that time, or just use them in your own devious plans ;) .

Let me also recommend the book "The Pirate Hunter" by Richard Zacks. It's a biography of the most infamous American "pirate," Captain William Kidd.

I would like to point out the various stuff Pierre Cedain LeVarde has.

Blunderbuss: He has the shorter one in this picture.
    http://blindkat.hegewisch.net/pirates/blunderbuss.gif

Pistol/Sword: He has one of those to signify rank. He probably wears it aroud his belt.
    http://blindkat.hegewisch.net/pirates/pistolcutlass.jpg

Captain Coat: Another rank thingy. Probably rather dirty. Looks like one of the following, probably red/maroonish, like the second pic (despite I claimed it was blue in the official thread, I thought red would be funky too...). It would reach about his knees.
    http://www.medieval-weaponry.com/media/mrl8274.jpg and http://www.medieval-weaponry.com/media/mrl9741.jpg

He also have a bunch of flintlocks. And some other captain stuff, stored safe in a large box along with a bunch of miscllaneous stuff. Maps, too. It's rather LARGE coat...

A description of the Black Wind:

The ship is a mid-range ship, around about the size of a corvette. She has a foremast and a main mast, and weighs slightly heavily in the water. The rear mast isnt fixed, rather adopting a loose rear mast. The ship is slightly less heavily armed than a corvette, only having 6 cannon per side. 4 mounted on the gun deck, and 2 more lashed to the main deck, evenly spaced between the masts. This keeps the weight down a little, making her a little faster than a war sloop, but slower than a cutter, or regular sloop.

The ship itself is a little rough looking. As if it could use a month in dry dock, for repair. However, it is clear it is still finely held together. The Bridge has a lot of decoration around it, a leftover from an exhibitionist captain. One who thought it was better to look great, than to fight hard.

The hold of the vessel is below the gundecks, with an opening in the centre of the ship to allow large barrels and the like to be lowered into it. The crew quarters were based towards the front of the ship, with cabins at the stern. The Captains cabin was at the back, with a couple of others before it, and flanking it. Also, below the rear cabins was the brig, where prisoners were locked up.

The main flag of the ship, when conducting piracy, is like many pirate vessels, based on a black background. The emblem on the front however is of a skull based atop a crossed pistol and sword.

An example of the sort of thing, though not exactly is this: http://www.monmouth.com/~jhendrickson/caypirat.JPG

A back story to the Black Wind:

Under the captaincy of Captain Marley, the vessel acted pretty much like a privateer. She tried to make money where she could. At times the vessel resorted to piracy, flying the flag of a skull atop a crossed pistol and saber. However, due to inept leadership, this rarely was a success, often leaving the ship damaged.

Instead, the captain took jobs from the empire to make ends meet. As such, she was barely tolerated in imperial ports, and only for brief periods. In the run up to the start of the Sorcerean adventure, she was foundering, with many crew leaving ship. As a last effort, the captain took on a consignment of jewels for the empire, but the captain was planning on pocketing the proceeds. As such Percival McSween had decided to relieve the captain of this consignment and jump ship, with his old companion Eldon.

With the arrival of Pierre LeVarde, and a change in captaincy, Percival McSween was able to round up a large amount of downheartened imperial sailors, and boistrous pirates, to re-crew the vessel, and bring it back to fighting strength.

    Description of the Crimson Dagger:

The ship is a Sloop that has been modified by ideas from every sea-worthy pirate under Williams command, and from experts in the field. The Sloop sports a whole 14 cannons, and through changes to the hull can reach top speeds at 12-13 knots in good winds. The ship is highly maneuverable due to its small size has earned the name of the Crimson Dagger due to its crimson sails and the jab of a dagger that is swift, stealthy and lethal.

In tradition of the Sloop, the Crimson Dagger sports on mast with a large sail making it more maneuverable than a ship with several masts. The ship can extend oars through the gunholes to speed up travel through windstill weather. The sloop is around 65 ft long and weighs approximately 110 ton. (was that too technical? oh what the hell :D hehe)

I'd like to add that most of the discussion and planning for the game takes place in #sorcerers. Feel free to hop in.

I'd like to add that the planning that goes on really sucks. Can't we play without knowing exactly what we all want to happen?

Discussion, however, is good for word count :D

Yeah it sucks to have a perfectly mapped out story in your head because it will get screwed up. Having a loose idea of where you want thing to happen and when is good though. I made it obvious that I wanted to be on the prison ship in the story but I ended up writing an invasion of an escort and then having the prison ship sink before I could get a point where it seemed natural to go! You know who you are :p

Grah! Can't we slow down the rate of posting? That battle took far to short a time (One day), and I missed it all because RL dragged me away fromt he computer. If we could have staggered it over say, three days, then it would have worked better - those with timezones not in that of everyone else, description-power could possibly be jacked up (same amount of posts about a shorter area of in-game time means more to say about that section), and those trying to catch up don't have so many quickly happening events to catch up to after they've missed all the interesting stuff.

This isn't necessary for the charactery stuff (we're sailing the high seas with nothing to do so engage in conversation stuff), but rather the important events (rescuing my character and sinking two ships, which I missed entirely because I was away for ONE day).

I agree with Aik here - snippets of banter is good, like me and Rally's posts, but battles should be drawn out for effect.

By the way, if you join you better stay for a long time, and not make one post then disappear. Because then everyone will ignore you and I will shoot you in the face with a blunderbuss and toss you overboard.

I have to say that y'all must be some EXTREMELY observant pirates to be suspicious of Matty/Zillah so quickly. She's been keeping up this disguise for eight years, remember? She's likely to be pretty good at it by now. I can see that DG's character might have gotten a lucky roll, but I really doubt that Pierre, Percival, or Eldon would have had a clue had this been a table game.

*whinge* I'm getting a bit concerned that realism is getting lost here. The "coincidence" factor is getting a bit high, and people seem to be concocting rather unlikely assests for themselves. Why cant people just try to RP, and not be the "greatest" character of all? *end whinge*

Hey, Takara! Malovae! I've a question for you two. Does Lamira seem that untrustworthy? I'd like your opinion, because I want to know if I'm RP'ing her to the fullest.
