[IMG] Do y'all know what the "point buy" is gonna be? I'm also curious what stats are set at before the point buy. I'm assuming it's going to be 10.

Your stats start at 8 all around. When you have penalties on stats these are subtracted from it:
A halforc would perhaps have chr-6 at start. His bonus stat str would start at 10 then. However, it is cheaper then to add points on str for a halforc. For example it may cost two points to raise str from 14 to 15, a half-orc could get that for 1 point due to his str-bonus.

IMO point buy has a serious drawback: The chars resulting from it are too mediocre all around and as someone else said, they look like "clones".

From what i've seen, all your stats start at 10, then you add/subtract your racial modifiers, then you get 16 points to distribute. And i think its non weighted.

[IMG] What is the max number of points you can put into any single stat at start?
Since the 16 extra points will be distributed "non weighted" anyone start with a 26 stat (10+16), but I can't imagine that being allowed.

BTA is correct. As is Ragusa. They start at 8 points all around. As you increase one stat, it becomes more expensive to increase, so you will not have a character with a 24 stat. Of course, you will be able to increase one of the stats every four levels.

That sounds an awful lot like NWN. Are you sure it's that way in IWD2?
