I havent played Neverwinter Nights, though i hear its alright. The reason i ask what you all think in opinion to these is because, though i havent finished Icewind Dale II, it seems rather disappointing  I mean, i really loved Shadow of Amn.

I enjoyed the BG2 Single-Player game more than any of the others. I'm having a lot of fun playing around with the myriad of mods around for that one, so it's turning out to be pretty good (once the bugs got fixed).

Out of all of them, I'd say my order is:

    1. BG2
    2. NWN
    3. IWD2-Sorry for all the fans out there, but I didn't really enjoy this one as much.

    Best to worst would be:

    1. Baldur's Gate 2
    2. Icewind Dale 2
    3. Neverwinter Nights

Although in terms of quality it's more like:

    1. Baldur's Gate 2
    5. Icewind Dale 2
(a faint blob in the distance) Neverwinter Nights

IWD 1 is better than 2. The storyline's more interesting and it has a far more original feel. Also, there aren't nearly as many irritating features (dragon's eye, the time loop, dragon's eye, stupid errand boy quests, dragon's eye). On top of that, IWD 2 reuses half the locations from the first game so at times it seems like you're just playing the same game all over again.

In fact, the only advantage 2 has over 1 is the use of the 3E rules which are pretty damn near perfect - crappy 3E XP rules aside which are slightly less thrilling than watching paint dry.

    I voted BG2,
    just because its so free...
In both of the IWD games I feel so tied up...
    Don't excactly know why...

I noticed that too, the Icewind Dale series seems to carry more of a strict storyline. Baldurs Gate II was very open.. and i put in a lot of hours just doing everything there was to do in the game. Then i got Throne of Bhaal ::laughs:: put in quite a few more hours customizing chars and working through quests in that too. Unlike Icewind Dale which always seems to lean towards the "you must do this" gameplay which sometimes gets annoying.
