I imagine I may be alone here. This game is now no longer as appealing to me as it was my first few times through it. Whether it's because I could draw every map from memory or tell you every encounter, it seems to have lost some of the mysticism that it once had. Don't get me wrong, the game is still fun, but has it lost any?

So, has the game lost any of its interesting characteristics in the last five years you've been playing it, or is it still as much fun as it ever was?

Some appeal, yes. And mods don't make up for that. Some editor like in Starcraft or Age of Empires would allow creative people to make mods like for NWN w/o drowning in technical details...

Yup. I'm modded to the maximum, have taken the various new NPC's available and, quite frankly, it's lost the allure for me. Of course, if you consider the amount of playing hours for repeat games, I can hardly complain. I've gotten my $$$ out of this one. (BTW - I haven't picked up NWN or IWDII yet, so anyone who wants to PM with a good reason for picking one over the other, feel free -- I don't see a need to start a new post for this).

Of course it has. There's not one product which you can use again again and again without ever coming even slightly bored at it.
