I would if I could, but time is very scarce ... I hardly have time for cRPG's and the few on-line P&P games I've tried, I kept missing sessions due to work/family/etc

Given the opportunity though, I'd love a real game!

I'd really much like to try real 3E D&D, but since I'm the only one around here interested in D&D, it's probably not going to happen very soon. :(

Between the two, IWD2 and 3E pen and paper I'd have to definitely say that the latter is better than the former by far. I've played pen and paper a great deal longer than computerized D and D and there's so much more one can do in pen and paper, you can improvise a great deal more and you can do things that a game engine would not allow you to do. I still like CRPGs though, don't get me wrong.

The first Icewind Dale peaked my interest in PnP, now I find myself playing as much of PnP as I can stand. I still haven't really played any 3rd edition campaigns yet, Still stuck in 2nd edition... I think I enjoy PnP more because rules can be slightly tailored towards the groups style of play, maximizing the fun

I'd love to be playing p&p 3E, but there are no opportunities in my area to do so. So I stick with IWD2..

    At Storm6296:
You should play 3E it's so much better and easier to learn and understand than 2E. For one thing, it's not nearly as complicated as 2E rules are (no THAC0 charts, no negative ACs, and easier Saving Throws to manage and that's a tiny amount of the goodness that can be found in 3E.)

[IMG] I'd love to but I doubt anyone here is interested - though I suppose a surprise lurks behind every corner - especially if that corner leads behind a pub

Is it possible to D&D with yourself? :thumb:

D&D yourslef?! no way, if you want this it is called "A book where you are the hero" with an stupid battle system (you give the Foe 2 damage or he give you 2 damage, no mstter wich weapon you are using, if you have a armor or not...) and weak plot....

I've played a bit of 3E. I'd like to play more, but we stopped during finals, and won't be able to start back up 'till after the end of Christmas break. Of the two, I enjoyed PnP better, for sveral reasons: like almost everyone else has pointed out, the greater flexibility of the rules, but also all the races you can only use in PnP. I'm currently playing a Fey'ri and they're fun, but not in any of the computer games.

My vote goes on "No, and I have no intention to do so".
Two reasons. One, I don't have time for it nor I have patience for lousy DMs' lack of imagination. Another one, a certain person who got addicted into that is not a person any more. And I'm against hallucinogenic drugs.

Hmm, I just decided I don't feel like saying it all again, so I say, I've played some 2E but no 3E

I never played P&P before and IWD2 is my first CRPG. So, WTF I am doing here, I don't know.

I'm going to have to go with Math. Between all of the responsibilities that I currently have, I can only scrounge three or four hours per week to even play a computer game. I'd never be able to add PnP into the mix.

I certainly hope to try someday. Maybe over the summertime I'll hook up with some friends and see what we can do.

Pen and Paper Dungeons and Dragons is a great thing. In CRPGs you go around, kill this guy, get xp, get this weapon, this guy betrays you, then you kill that guy and in true american style *drumbeat* become a god (or should I say canadian?). Pen and Paper allows a certain amount of camraderie that CRPGs and not even MMORPGs cannot. And not all DMs are lousy, in fact, most DMs are great if you let them be, but you have to understand the different styles of DMing. Personally, I think Bioware did a great job of defining the various DMing styles and techniques. You can see their descriptions here: http://nwn.bioware.com/dms/dmtips3.html Also, the Forgotten Realms, is by far the most developed of the worlds, and again, by far the most rewarding. It's gods are realistic, it's history believable, its various orginazations and social groups and structure are awesome. When people of a like mind come together and create something of this magnitude, others should quiver in the face of such harnessed creative power. And if you people who have never played PnP before eventually do, a bit of sound advice, never argue with the DM, EVER, unless of course you are absolutely sure of your cause and have sound evidence to back whatever your claim might be. Fear Him. This doesn't apply to when you have to pee :)

Yes, true enough, Bioware did a realy good job, not like Diablo who tell us that the game is a "RPG" what a shame, I think that Quake III have more rople play than Diablo. anyway I should I have from "Quebec" since many like myself "loath" (That a big word) Canadian, because they haven't no culture they just copy the American culture.
