    Nakia - I'm pretty sure by "yank" he meant "American." Typical cockney brit, that one. ;)

    I've only eaten them as a side order at Popeye's, so, you may or may not consider that a blasphemous incarnation of the hush puppy. The nasty indegestion I got afterwards certainly led me to. :sick:

    Never heard of them. Sounds like deep fried flour, egg, and milk. Not really my cup of tea (sounds far too fatty) but I'd certainly try it once if I had the opportunity.

    I'm not sure if this is off topic or not, but I'd like to know if boiled peanuts are also a southern USA food. When I was very young and we were living in the states for a year, I remember going to a bluegrass festival in the south and eating boiled peanuts there. I thought that it was a strange way to eat peanuts because they tasted like potatoes.
