[IMG] I know that this is probably an old question, but since I can't find it in a search, I will ask it.

What is your favorite core class? This also includes the Psion and Psychic Warrior.

I have always loved to play arcane spell casters. In 1E & 2E, that meant Wizard (yes, I know the Bard too, but I hated the 1E/2E Bard). But in 3E you get the Bard, Sorcerer and Wizard. I am half and half over the Sorcerer vs. Wizard. But I just started a Bard, so I will see how that plays out.

    Cleric. Always.
I never played P&P but I got my char ready for the time it might happen. On CRPG, I usually pick a cleric too. I like the divine spellcasting, boosting up and charge. And I hate undeads, so my favorite is a Morninglord of Lathander.

Ever since I first tried one in IWD II, I've always loved playing as Druids. In PnP especially, they get some of the best spells, they can have animal companions, awaken them, etc... Plus, they have some really excellant RPing possibilities. :)

It depends on the ruleset, but mostly a monk or fighter/mage for 2nd ed, or paladin, fighter or monk for 3rd ed.
I'm always a DM, so I have the pleasure of using several characters for interaction.

I am known for playing wizards, though lately I have taken a shine to rogues and rangers. The most important thing, I have found, is that you have a concept, a personality, a motivation for your character.I was playing a Grey Elf wizard who was powerful, and had the most ecclectic collection of spells (alteration, necromancy, elemental fire), but I realized I had only created him to be a good wizard. He was only grey elven because of the +2 int. bonus, and he felt so empty when I played him.

Cleric. I find this the most versatile character.

    - Spellcasting, both offensive and defensive.
    - Also a lot of good general play spells, like Light, Comprehend Languages, Obscuring mist, Animal Messenger, Detect Traps.
    - Decent Meleeskills, very powerful when properly boosted with spells like Bull's Strength, Endurance.
    - Makes for good roleplaying due to Diety choices and religion in general.
    - Can wear the heaviest of armors without spellfailure.

I prefer sorcerers and rogues, mostly for the roleplaying lean. I've played a memorable one of each. The former was 1/16th dragon gray elf who was high and mighty but loyal to his true friends. He hurled insults at wizards, telling them to shut up by saying: "Go read a book." The latter was a LE assassin of the Order of the Second Smile [think about it] whose personal motto was: "Someday, some berk is going to kill me. The more men I kill, the greater my chances are that one of 'em was that s.o.b." [I never said he was wise] :) Always room for colorful personality.
