[IMG] I'm curious if anyone plays in 640 x 480 mode, either due to hardware restrictions or simply because you like to see things in greater detail. In BG1 we all had to play in 640 x 480, of course (pre-TotSC). Personally I couldn't possibly go back from 1024 x 768; for me, that's the perfect compromise of both detail and amount of on-screen information. (For whatever reason attempting to play in an even greater resolution results in a game crash.)

I use 1024 x 768, is just the right size for me.
I use it for almost everything, and I have TuTu so I can use too.

I like the good ol' 800 X 600. It's the best one imo.

I use 800x600. Lower shows too little of the area around you, which is quite annoying since your characters tend to see more than you can. Higher is nice in that respect but everything is way too small, and I like being able to see some details in the game world.

I use the default for the game. That's 640*480 for BG1, and 800*600 for BG2. Though TBH, I'm finding EasyTutu looks so f***ing stupid in 800*600 that I'm considering dropping all of them (including BG2) to 640*480. :p I want to be able to see the players and the details about them, not just the scenery and specks. ;)

I use 800x600. Anything higher shrinks the characters, objects, text, etc to be too small on my 14" laptop screen. The higher resolutions seem rather pointless unless you've got a larger screen (like 20" or more).

I use 800 X 600. I've wanted to try 1024 x 768, but because it's not supported, I'm wary of trying it in case something happens.

I've used 1024 x 768 res for over four years on four different PCs and I've never experienced video problems of any kind. I believe 1024 x 768 looks fine (detail-wise) on monitors 17" or larger.

I tried 1024 x 768 and apart from giving me a headache from having to squint to make everything out, when I went back to 800 X 600 the game kept crashing. I'll stick with 800 X 600.

I'm pretty much like Aerie's Number 1 Fan because I always use 800 X 600 but I REALLY want to be able to play BGII in 1024 x 768 but It's not supported so I don't know ...

Will it ruin my game or what? Because you guys have said you have used it so I don't know! And if I wanted to try it how would I go about it because I don't remember it being in the options section, do I have to go into the Config file?

Sorry, I don't usually pay attention to all of this, I just play it how it lays! :D

    @ $ilvershield:

I've tried 1280 x 960(?) on three different PCs, including my current PC that has an nVidia 6600GT w/128MB of RAM, and it's never worked. The game screen is distorted and assorted weird anomalies pop up everywhere. But, like I said earlier, I've had nary a minor glitch at 1024 x 768. There's no way an "unsupported" resolution can actually mess your game up permanently. Worst case scenario is you'll have to CTRL+ALT+DEL and manually quit BG2, then go back to the BGConfig program and change back to a supported res.

800x600 for me, tried 1024x768, but then half the screen seems to be filled up with the fog of war. Anything higher (1280x960) makes the buttons and icons too small on my screen. I'm also using a party of 2, so 800x600 does this fine.

So an unsupported resolution can't permanently ruin your game, that's good. But what can happen if you use one ...

Was playing in 800x600, but now in love with good old 640X480. It shows much more detail, IMHO. The higher res. make all the caracters soo small it ain't beautiful. Plus spells tend to fly here and there occasionally (well, 4 PIs each emptying their spell books via Time Stops. 20+ ABDHW and various other spells!) so low res. is nice. It is nostalgic and fun. Great looking! Sure the screen is small, but I am really used it. Now if I try 800X600 I will feel REAALY un-comfortable. Higher than 800X600 and I think I won'T be able to recognise/play the game at all.

Aww am I the only 640X480 lover? This sucks.

I play with 640x480. I'm used to it. 800x600 is okay too, but higher than that makes me feel queasy, like I'm somewhere high up looking down. Also my screen is rather small and I like to see the details.

1024x since the next step higher resolution doesn't work. 17" flats use 1280x as native res, so the nearer the better.
