[IMG] So, I have all these wonderful pics in my Portraits folder and the list of them appears in the custom window. Yet, everytime I select one, it brings up a big fat headed dude with a question mark on him. What gives?

the pics have to be .bmp formatt. im guessin you dont know how to change them to .bmp formatt, you have to open them in paint and go to save as, type the name and where it says 'save as type', select 24-bit bitmap. simple! :D

[IMG] Well, I took the s off the folder name, naturally nothing appeared on custom menu. So then I put it back on and that annoying man was off most of them. Go figure. Thanks for the help. At least for bouncing some ideas and all. :D

Basically the large one is 210 * 330 and the small one 42 * 42, both in 24bit (16 mln colours).
Thus file size is 208 614 and 5 432 bytes respectively.

[IMG] Ok, the problem is none of the above.

The problem is that you cannot have a portrait with more than 8 Characters in it's name. So theoretically you could have:
    BOBELF_L, BOBELF_S
    but not
    BOBBYELF_L, BOBBYELF_S
Because these are over 8 Characters long.

Check your names, then try again. If it still doesn't work, then god knows. :)

[IMG] Ok, now I'm just irritated. I would just say forget it, but it makes no sense. I have turned the files to bmp form 210 x 330... none of them are above 8 characters long. They are labeled with a L or S... still nothing. Any other suggestions?

[IMG] You don't especially need L or S, it just helps when identifying the portraits. Double check none are over 8 Characters. Make sure the Portraits folder has an "s" on the end. Why don't you try jpg format and see if that makes a difference?
Or heck, read the IWD2 ReadMe and see if that says anything.

If none of those work, then contact the developers.

If copying files into the portrait directory when the game is already running you have to re-launch the game. Like in BG2. Maybe this sucks?
