[IMG] I've had a problem with getting games to start lately: although most things work just fine, two programs have given me merde, those being:

Age of Empires III: a legal copy was normally installed, but when attempting to run it, nothing seemed to happen. Upon closers investigation, no Tasks showed in task manager. There was a Process Age3, but that seemed dead (ie. using no PCU and very little memory).

Dawn of War Winter Assault: I've downloaded this game. [snip]

Now I know that when downloading things, you take your chances, but the AoE3 was, as said, a 100% legit boxed game.

The question is: does anyone know what I can do to get my stuff to work? Thanks in advance for any suggestions/help.

PS: I'm not technical. I'm not retarded, but I have a limited knowledge of Windows. I'm currently running under WinXP Pro.

Uinstall the games and reinstall them and see if that works. It it doesn't check your drivers, game patches and windows updates. If that still doesn't work try the games on another computer. If the games don't work on the other computer, it isn't your computer it is the games themselves. If they do work on the other computer than it is your system.

Here are some other things to do. Defrag and scandisk your hard drive. Run antivirus program, etc...

I hope this helps you out.

Abdel: For AoE3, the copy worked fine on a friends' PC, installing the patches didn't help, and my video drivers are pretty up-to-date. Reinstalling didn't help either.

Will try the whole defrag thing etc. but I don't see how that could help really.

Wirhe, what do you mean [snip]

At any rate, thanks, both of you :)
