[IMG] I'm ready to fight bassilisks and have a couple Protect from Petrify scrolls handy. When I look at the description for how long it lasts (by right-clicking on the scroll), it gives me 2 numbers. In the actual description, it says it lasts 12 hours, but in the bottom part (with the info of weight and who can cast this) it says 6 hours.

I'm pretty sure I can clear the map in less than 6 hours, but I still wonder which duration is correct.

EDIT: Checked again and the durations are the other way around; 6 hours in description and 12 hours in stats. This is the green scroll, too. The spell scroll (blue) says 5 turns which is...10 minutes???

They're both wrong; it's 5 hours game time, which is half an hour real time. The blue scroll, though, is correct in saying that it lasts 5 turns, which is five minutes real time.

The spell lasts long enough for me except I have to cast it twice or thrice in the large open Basilisk area.

Just have your mage(s) have as many of them as possible memorized and keep the protected guy out front.

It's been too long since I played. Yes, I cast it on my lead girl and had her run ahead of the party. The auto-pause when hit was annoying, but oh well.

I ran into that adventuring party and had to dispel the Rigid Thinking on my protected girl, which also negated the protection. :grr: Stupid adventurers! I blasted them for it, too.
