I was going to go out and buy POR tomorrow because it seems like a very popular game, and I like trying out new RPG's. After looking at these posts, however, it seems that I shouldn't be too quick to buy it. Thanks for the indirect advice.

Search for the review in the news database, and see if this is something for you. Most of the reviews were not happy about the game though. Maybe you should stick to the old BioWare/Black Isle games until Neverwinter Nights is released, or try games which are not AD&D.

    Ok, this is my suggestion.

Download demo and try it. That's the best thing to start with.
If you can't download it, then try to borrow PoR from someone for a day or two.

Just don't buy it before you see it. OK?

I bought the game three days ago. And, I must say, apart from my CPU speed being BARE minimum and the game running too slow for my liking - combat is difficult when jerky... I have to say I quite like it.

It's a bit disappointing that some classes and races were left out, but I guess it has to fit a certain world-mold and the characters available do the job.

But the others are right - try it yourself, 'coz you won't know until you do if it's your cup of tea. And it is quite a lot different to BGII.

    Cheers

I like the game, it might be a bit slow ( the speed patch sorts that out ). One thing to remember if you played the original pool of radiance and the rest of the old ones you can see that PoRII does maintain the same sort of .. how can I put it ..options and combat interface

A 'speed' patch, Reaver? Please inform me of where I could obtain such a sanity-saving device - I would be much obliged.

    Hey!

I've got a copy for you....Only been used once. I would be HAPPY to be rid of it. The original POR games back in the 80's were MUCH more fun. :(
