    [IMG] Hi guys! ;)

Well this is my first time to post at Sorcerer's Place and I just want to clarify a few things.

I just restarted my game again and created an Elven Archer. Sooo how does Dex affect my bow skills? Does it add extra damage or just amplify my chance to hit?

Same question goes to Weapon Finesse feat. Does dex add damage or just the add attack?

Dex only applies to your attack bonus, not to damage. The same applies for weapon finesse - to make it worthwhile you should take care that your dex is significantly higher than your str ;) It also improves our reflex save and a lot of dexterity related skills, for thieves especially.

Oh yes, and welcome to the boards :thumb:

That sucks considering the +2 dex of Elves. Atleast I won't have much problems with avoiding traps.

One more thing, what does the dexterity minus in medium and heavy armor mean?

    Thanks! Really appreciate it!

It works like that, the heavier the armor the better the protection - but the heavier the armor - the more restricts it your movement. When you look closer in the armor's description you see a max dex-bonus to AC indicated.
So when you have dex-14 and wear a full plate your dex bonus will be limited to 1 and your dex to 12 iirc. When using an armor like a scalemail with max dex bonus = 4 you won't have a malus until your dexterity exceeds 18.

So when you want to use your full dex bonus - wear a lighter armor and rely for a good AC on your dex. Considering the elves dex bonus it's a questionable idea to put one in a fieldplate ;)
