[IMG] Is a ranger-cleric better as a multi-class, or as dual class? And if dual, I assume you start as a ranger, but when is it best to dual to cleric?

I am pretty sure you could not dual as a Ranger or one of its sub classes. So multiclass is the only way.

DC R/C is basically a cleric who can use druid spells along with clerical spells + good combat qualities for starters (NOTE, they can only use clerical weapons)
MC R/C is (IMO) a mediocre fighter and a mediocre cleric. They are leveled up to 12/14 AFAIK, so it gives ye average rangers' fighting power and 1 lvl7 clerical spell.
What is to choose is up to ye, wheter to take an offensive cleric (DC) or an all-around kind of character (MC)

I agree to ayecapitan: dualing from ranger to cleric, lets say at lvl-9 will give you a nice fighter and a good cleric with high cleric levels; waiting till lvl-12 to dual, your fighting abilities will be better, but you won´t get that high as a cleric.
I´d recommend to dual at lvl-9 for I´d prefer the spellpower of a priest to the pure melee abilities.

btw - playing a stalker-cleric, you can also cast a few mage spells, so you´d have a wide variety of cleric, druid and a few mage spells to choose of. I´d definitely recommend wis-18 for the increased number of spells. If your ranger is from BG-1 and has wis-20 - the better.

So the dual classed ranger-cleric could use druid spells just by virtue of being part ranger?

Also: rangers only get druid spells up to level 3, right? So would the dual class r/c be able to use druid spells beyond level 3?

Finally, would he only be able to use druid spells once the ranger skills returned?

    Thanks for the info.

1 ranger can't dual claas at all

2 IF they could dual class they wouldn.t be able to cast druid spells higher than level three because the cap is to low

3 IF they could dual class you would only be able to use druid spells once the ranger skills return

    !! I said IF, so they CAN'T !!

    Yes they can...

    True
3 IF they could dual class you would only be able to use druid spells once the ranger skills return

Wrong. I have a DC Ranger/Cleric and she has level 6 Cleric spells. The only usefulness she serves is the fact that she can cast Free Action (Cleric) then cast Entangle (Druid) and walk freely smacking interlopers in the head.

So to summarize, you CAN dual class a Ranger to a Cleric.
