Four travelers, Alanna, an elf sorcerer, Dawar, a human who has forsaken his worldly possessions, Xavi, a dwarf druid, and an unnamed Dwarf warrior have met outside the town of Sybech. A plague called Autumn's Fever is ravaging the lands, and the party became interested in finding the source of this plague.

The four became acquainted, and gave the unnamed dwarf the appellation of "Steelbeard". Dawar, being familiar with the town of Sybech, guide the party around in a small dingy tavern called the Olive Seed, looking for a merchant who was rumored to know a little bit about the plague.

The merchant, named Ilser, was nowhere to be found, so the party looked about in the market square and then the blacksmith's, where Steelbeard bought three throwing axes. Eventually, the party checked in at a high-scale inn called the Stavesacre, and then met the merchant Ilser. Ilser expalined that in his travels, he was attacked by hobgoblins, none of which seemed to carry the plague. He suspected that they might be behind the disease, and hired the party to investigate the rocky lands to the south, where there were old ruins, including an abandoned tower where several hobgoblins were sighted a few days ago. He also mentioned a tracker and scout named Uler, who worked for hire in the town.

Xavi and Steelbeard agreed to Ilser's deal, though Alanna and Dawar couldn't agree to the merchant's terms, but would investigate the hobgoblins anyway. The merchant promised Xavi and Steelbeard 150 gp each and one masterwork weapon for good information.

The party spent the night in Sybech, and was ready the next day to travel south.

    No one receives any XP.
