The battery on my Kindle Keyboard is just about dead.

I've heard that modern Kindles have more restrictions and annoying ads, and I don't need the "latest and greatest" e-reader. I never use the Kindle/Amazon Store, I mostly use it for reading fanfics.

I hook up my Kindle to the computer and either copy the files like it's a flash drive or use Calibre + the FanFicFare plugin to download fanfics and "Send to device".

Can anyone recommend an e-reader that is cheap, has comparable or greater storage, and ideally I could just copy the files from the Kindle onto my HD, then copy them onto the new e-reader with minimal fuss?
Maybe what models of Kindle I should be looking at since I understand modern ones no longer use .MOBI or .AZW3?
I can use Calibre to convert, but the issue is with the way Calibre's library works and the limited storage on the Kindle, ONLY doing the files I have on the Kindle.
I mostly only keep stuff I intend to read, and delete things (I have another file with over 12gb of fanfics) when I'm done reading them, and separating the "to read" from the "already read" is a chore.

I could probably just use an older computer to do the conversions however in a pinch. The XP computer with the older version of Calibre should still work for the Kindle Keyboard even if Fanficfare won't.

Couldn't you just look for a second hand Kindle Keyboard?
