[IMG] I just happened to accept the quest from a cleric (name?) who's in the northern part of BG to bring back his son's dead body from the Bitch Queen, which I had killed earlier to get the Book of Wisdom from her.

The body then fell on the floor and I did not pick it up since I was already loaded with stock (been carrying 2 other dead bodies found in the sewers for the longest time not knowing what to do with them - should probably leave them in a chest to rot until I find if they are good for something! :)

I thought back then that if the boy's body was for a quest it would remain on the floor and not disappear as other goods dropped by killed monsters. Well, I was wrong!

I am now curious to know if this quest was worth it, i.e. what is the reward for completing this quest? I did not look through some walkthrough because I do not want to read more spoilers (playing the game knowing the whole plot is enough like that!)

Thank you for your usual help.

[IMG] As far as I can remember, you get a small amount of gold, some XP and a rep increase of 1.

Also you get a Large Shield +2 (or it might have been a +1/+4 vs missle weapons, I can't remember)

Oddly enough, there's two bodies you can get in that temple, and they're both the body of that boy - if you didn't solve that quest by butchering all of the priestesses you *might* be able to salvage it.

[IMG] If I may ask, where is the second body?? I did not see anything other than the priestesses in the temple. I can't recall any chest or any of the likes.

[IMG] Well its sort of a strange thing.

If you talk to the priestess of Umberlee outside of Baldur's Gate across the bridge (I forget her name) and help her get her bowl of water elemental command back (from the fishermen in the Ankheg/farm sector), later on in the game she'll reward you by handing over the boys body, so she has one of them.

If you recieved that one, and lost it, you can still go into the temple and talk to their other high priestess, and kill her for the body that she's carrying, and the scroll of Geas that you'll probably need later anyway.

I played this quest many times and you indeed missed some interesting stuff. The Cleric named Varci ask your help. Retrieve the body of the boy, and after the resurrection is done, you gain a huge reward, the best shield in the game (Shield +1 + 4 vs. Missiles, 5000 XP and 2000 Gold.)

It of course also has a price... 1 Wisdom point less... When you play a Cleric, you might prefer the Tome of Wisdom above this reward (however the Shield is great for a cleric (less chance of spell disruption by arrows)...

Actually (with regard to the Tome of Wisdom) in one of the dialog paths, you can ask the main priestess for the scroll first, then tell her you're not giving her the book (they are evil child-murderers after all), and big fight breaks out. More fun and an extra wis point.

True, you can also murder everybody there, however it's a tough fight. I should know that you always take the most violent way ;)

Hold your horses there! I seem to recall a tome of wisdom floating around in that game, and I always gave the high priestess the book she asked for. Are there 2 tomes of wisdom in the game, or am I going insane?

There are indeed 2 tomes of Wisdom in BG (and also one in the add on ToTSC), the one in teh Candlekeep Catacombs and the one that the priestress Tymora has...

Now I was wondering, when you give her the Tome and get the body of the boy and then Pickpocket the Bitch Queen, do you get the tome back?

[IMG] Headbanger, you disppoint me - you were playing an *all thief* party and did *not* steal the tome of wis *and* the geas cure ??! *sob* oh well ... you have a long way to go :D

I helped the umberlee priestess - so I got the boys body *for free*, asking her to return the favour. When faced with the geas quest, I pickpocketed the main priestess for the geas cure and stole the tome of wisdom from the tymora temple as well - as it seemed Tymora liked me despite that ;) My thiefs are used to have a very high potential of criminal energy, not a single house in Baldur's gate I did not loot :)

You are an addict. I am Chaotic Good alligned so I don't pickpocket everyone and stole from Every house. I use my thief-skills only against evil and not against innocent people. I could indeed steal the tome of Wisdom... a Wisdom of 19 instead of 18 would make my Cleric/THief indeed some better.... Well, I'm not going to replay the whole game again :)

My paladin killed her right after giving her the book, and that way I got the reward *and* the book. Didn't "fall" either- by a certain reckoning it's not evil to kill an evil priestess.
