Aboriginal and American Indian reservations are experiencing a lot of problems with what are known as Rez Dogs:

I am speaking from personal experience here as well, having been forced to bike at max speed when three nasty looking junkyard types came after me when I was biking to town. This was when I was visiting my Kookum (Cree for Grandmother). After that experience, I'm not sure if I'll ever be willing to bring children to live on a reserve, just on account of this and numerous other safety issues on Indian reserves.

But the issue is a complex one, with a lot of contributing factors. Some people just don't take care of or even feed their dogs, or even take basic steps like tying them to a post when they're not being watched. This is before we even get to neglecting to spay and neuter, leading to the formation of wild packs that roam the rez.

And how to deal with it is a divisive issue. Some people just want to round them up and kill them, while animal rights activists, and some Indians who stress the 'respect for animals' ethic aren't willing to take things that far.

This is may be why we have a dog pound or, and I don't like to say it and wouldn't want to do it, put some dogs down.

You don't want dangerous dogs roaming though rural areas or city parks.

Killing them sounds like a good solution to the problem to me. We aren't talking about endangered species here. Wild dogs killing kids? I'd be all for taking them out. "Respect for animals"? WTF? How about "Respect for kids getting killed by animals"?

Kill the dogs. Let's have a realistic world view here people. The fact that it's even being discussed disgusts me.
