We had an e-coli outbreak, in a particularly nasty form - the Hemolytic-uremic syndrome, in Germany. Source of the infection were apparently some vegetables (salad, cucumbers, sprouts). There was some hysteria initially, with some finger pointing going around. Eventually the origin of the outbreak has been traced, and this is what has emerged:

Almost a year to the date after Bush left office. Coincidence? I think not.

That's shocking - not only that they were able to trace all of them back to a single point of origin, but also that the seeds entered the food supply about a year and half before the first outbreak was reported.

I was sure it was a neo-con plot to silence Ragusa. To find out it was a terrorist plot caught me completely off guard.

    Snook,
that's a nasty habit you got there. Oh yeah, neo-con. You still don't have any idea what you're talking about * which is sad, considering that you had about a decade to learn about it, and chose not to.

While at it, if you have nothing to contribute, why not just shut up? It clearly is an option. The choice is yours.
    * To wit: A neo-con is something fairly specific, a Trotzkyite turned right-winger; it's not about being Jewish, or being a Republican (the infamous Richard Perle for instance is a registered Democrat). For your neglected education I thus kindly provide: After Neo-conservatism. But oh, I forgot, criticism about the very specific ideas that neo-conservatives have is clearly anti-semitic. Well, not, not at all and not at all by a very long shot. But what do I bother, you don't care about specifics (or threads) anyway.

Are you implying that Obama is trying to kill Ragusa?

He has nothing to worry about in that case. They will probably get Splunge instead, by mistake - and then claim that he was a muslim terrorist in disgiuse all along. They will then contract Halliburton to construct a bridge, or some other pointless structure, near his house and Canada will get a freeby out of the deal. It's the neo-con way. ;)

As for the topic, it's interesting that this was solved, but as soon as people stopped dying, the American media quickly dropped the story. I've not heard a thing about it in the last few days, without this thread I probably would not have known.

I take it there is history between you two?
On Track, weren't most of these sprouts grown on organic farms?

[edit] I swear I'm not stalking you Chandos, :D, you posted between me reading the thread & posting:p

Apparently. Sad thing, the farmers did everything "right". They couldn't know the seeds were contaminated.

The scandal shook up vegetable market in Germany big time. There was a good deal of hysteria as well.
