The party rested for the night.

    23rd
The party got a comission from Jygil to eradicate the Stirges on the Evermoors, They accepted. They met the scout Amdor and sailed up river. They camped for the night.

    24th
At daybreak Amdor lead Hayden, Sarathien, Lassael, Garacaius and Mistle across the Evermoors towards the Stirge's nesting site. On the way they were attacked by a ferocious troll. It downed Sarathien in it's first attack, so Hayden Amdor and Lassael took up the fight with Garacaius shooting off his trusty magic missiles and Mistle firing crossbow bolts. Hayden struck a mighty axe blow, aided by Tempus but the the troll raked Amdor gravely. Lassael hacked with her greatsword for all she was worth. Mistle threw caution to the winds and stabbed at the huge beast with her punching dagger. Garacaius used a healing potion to revive Sarathien who was soon back in the fray. At last the troll went down, but not for long as it began to regenerate before their horrified eyes. They all poured oil over it and Garacaius ignited it with a 'burning hands' scroll. The creature was consumed by the flames and they were safe, for the moment.

300xps for Sarathien, Garacaius, Lasssael, Mistle and Hayden

Before long they heard the buzzing of stirges. As the party made themselves ready to fight, the buzzing of stirges became louder and a swarm of 12 attacked the party. Hayden losed off a sound blast killing half and stunning the rest. After a great deal of fighting, everyone seemed to have gotten at least one kill. Amdor urged them on and they grabbed the stirge rods and took down the nests which they trashed and burned, making sure to destroy all the eggs. In the middle of their task, they heard that too familiar buzzing sound again.

They turned to face a new incoming swarm of 8 stirges. Hayden ran into the swarm, swinging his axe with fury. Jakob downed one with a bolt and Milla smashed a stirge that had attached itself to Mistle. Ilmennost took care of a stirge attached to Garacaius and he downed a pair with a magic missile spell. Sarathien got rid of the one attached to himself. After having slayed the swarm, they ran toward their nests and burnt them all.

Then they walked weary back to the boat, several feeling ill from the loss of blood. They returned to Nesme and was rewarded 500gp by Jygil who hadn't found out anything about the barbarians since they left. After getting the reward Amdor asked them to share a noggin of rum. First Hayden had business to do though.
Entering the town clerks office, he put the burned troll head on the table, much to the dislike of the clerk standing at the counter. After a furious discussion, Hayden left the office in anger, leaving the troll head to the disgusted clerk.
They went to the 5 crowns to celebrate and rest.

400xp to Garacaius, Hayden, Jakob, Mistle, Ilmenost Milla and Sarathien.

Thanks to 'Roving reporter' Lokken :)

As the party entered the Five Crowns, Jakob spoke to Amdor. "Thank you for your offer to share the rum," he said, " but I hope you will not be offended if I don't drink much. I'm hoping to stay alert just now - at it means there'll be more for the rest of you." While the party celebrated, Jakob tried to strike up conversation with Amdor about the barbarian attacks, gently steering the conversation towards certain points - specifically whether any coster seemed to be suffering more than the others and if there were any caravans leaving in the near future which might be in want of an escort.

Amdor tried some turnip vodka in honour of Jakob. He praised the gnomes marksmanship with the crossbow: "One - two straight between the eyes! Anyway, you are all trollslayers now, let's drink to that!"
He said he didn't know too much about the barbarian raids; only that the wine trade seemed to be most affected and that the merchants were getting upset and there was talk of a group of vigilantes being set up. The Riders of Nesme had scoured the north looking for them but so far without success.

Jakob overheard Iztar telling Garacaius something about a merchant upstairs, and the pair of them left hurriedly.

Figuring that Iztar probably made up the merchant story to be alone with Garacaius, Jakob chuckles to himself and slowly starts to drift away from the group. He starts talking to some of the other patrons, trying to find out if they know any more about the barbarians than Amdor or about any merchant who had recently come through and gone upstairs.

Jakob learned no more useful information about the barbarian raids. The bartender confirmed that a wine merchant by the name of Jack Summer was staying in room #7.
