I find myself always questioned when I play a game, computerized or otherwise, and I find myself always roleplaying, no matter how difficult it gets. I always roleplay, in computer games, and pnp as well. Now the question is what do you prefer?

Both are great! Perhaps a combination with a CRPG LAN is the best?

Anyone can figure out the 'right' thing to do to game efficiently. Role-playing takes time, skill and a lot of effort. And it's just so much more fun :D There's nothing quite like creating and playing your own character and (quite often in my case), making game choices based on what your character would do, rather than what they 'should' do.

Which is why Kerric was right. Nothing really beats PnP, as it is biased towards roleplaying to begin with. Of course it does always depend on who your DM is....

I think you really should roleplay, it likes being part of a story with a script, and you rarely see anyone in stories or movies go for the exploit-game-bug method of defeating someone, or getting something

Roleplaying every time, i always take a while thinking about any of my characters. Their history is usually noted down in some form, no matter how brief, as well as what they're like.
It's also in my opinion a little more fun, as there's other characters there, controlled by other people not the computer. It is more like telling a story, and meeting challenges, from within and without the party, rarther than the feeling of having to beat the game.
Also, there's no save and reload option if the fight goes bad ;).

    Actually I never played p&p.
But I think that Wish spell is determination of a good DM. It can't be copied by any means into simple CRPG.
I'd choose p&p with such spell and DM that can turn the user upside down like no scripted game can.

Of course - I'll still stick to CRPGs, Wish spell is the only bright light in p&p I can see.

Of course, by their nature CRPGs limit the role-player's scope. Like Extremist says, situations such as the usage of the Wish spell require an autonomous DM to really do the role-playing experience justice. Theres only so many conversation options the programmers can put into a CRPG. Of course, this is where online gaming comes in. The best of both worlds, perhaps? So long as you can afford the phone bill...

Play PnP one time Extremist... then we'll see if your views are still the same. To me, there is no CRPG that can match the richness, detail, and flexibility of a DM-run PnP. Of course, I did have a DM with a knack for epic storylines, but still. Nothing beats interacting with real people.
