Please look at the below screenshot... http://img153.exs.cx/img153/1957/rome6cm.jpg

Can you see the white? On things like unit flags, timber on the ground etc. They are just white! Very strange.

I have played this game before with no problem. Then I reformatted. It must be some kind of graphics problem, probably with the driver. I have a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 460 graphics card with the latest, Forceware drivers. I can't understand why this won't work...

    Any ideas people?

    Cheers.

Textures don't load because of lack of memory. Check the bios for "AGP Aperture size." I think increasing it should help, unless you have already tried it.
I thought I'd never see the day that happened in today's era - the last I've seen it was my PC running Tomb Raider 2...

Thanks, Toughluck. I went into Bios and changed the AGP Aperture size. For some reason, it was set to the lowest value. So I put it to the top...

However, still getting the same problem :( . I really can't understand this. Thinking about uninstalling/reinstalling the graphics drivers, but I'm not sure what help that will be.

Another thing is. I can play other games like, NwN, fine with no problems.

It is strange that you did'nt have the problems before. But is certainly looks as if your card is struggling. If you have the latest drivers and the latest patch for Rome then you probably best off trying to lower the graphic settings and see if they solve the issue. Rome is quite a bit more demanding in terms of PC spec than NWN, but with your card you should be able to play it fine at the lighter settings providing your PC is up to scratch. I did here something about the GF4 mx series struggling with memory in games that use Direct X9 features (Rome uses these)

I've turned all the settings now and it still does the same thing.

It's getting right on my jacobs now! It worked before I reformatted, why not now? Grrr

    Thanks for the help anyway.

Do you have the latest video drives downloaded from NVIDIA's website? Also, what version od DirectX do you have? DL and install the the newest version of that too. :rolling:

At least you got it to work on your computer, neither Medival nor Rome worked for me.

I remember my old computer (1.2ghz Celeron, Integrated Graphics) could handle the battle map, but not the campaign map... So I played millions of custom battles and historical battles, and when I got a new computer, I flattened everyone.. still happening in Rome. :D

/wins with one quarter force against legionaries

It's bloody annoying though, as I got it working fine before. There was a little bit of slow down on big battles, but I could look past that. Now I can't play the thing at all, and I have no idea why. Vexing.

Try rolling back your video drivers to the one that you had success playing the game with. The newest drivers aren't necessarily the best, as I've experienced with the Catalyst 4.12 driver...Grrr...

That's the thing, I have no idea which drivers I had before. I'm pretty certain they were the same as I always make a point of updating my drivers as soon as new ones come out. It's NVidia by the way.
I'm quickly running out of ideas, but nevermind.

    Thanks for the help lads.
