[IMG] By Jupiter! This is one brilliant game! The Total War team have outdone themselves this time (and that was no mean feat). The Strategic Gameplay is an improved version of Medieval: Total War and that's still a good thing. However the battles is where the game truly shines.

The speeches by the generals before you engage in a battle reminded me of good old Russel Crowe in Gladiator. The speeches when you're outnumbered are even more inspiring than a room full of naked 18 year old girls... or something.

The combat is pretty damn realistic. When you see cavalry run into spearpoints occasionally the rider will go flying from his now dead horse. Elephants throw people around as if they were rag dolls.

The music and sound are incredible. You simply feel like a bad-ass general all the time, even when ordering your men to move a few feet forward simply due to the response you get of a massive agreement.

If you don't have it, get it. If you do have it, why aren't you playing it?... Speaking of which, those Goths are revolting, and they're uprising, I'll go deal with them right now.

Not to mention the city sieges, when i stormed Athens with my siege towers it looked just like the scene in the LOTR, with my soldiers jumping down and fighting like animals for every foot of battelment.

    Simply amazing.

Fantastic game - fully deserving of the Second Best Game of All Time it'll win. I don't much like directing the battles though. I fought the first few myself, but then found them tedious, and now get the AI to fight them.

I just finished the short Roman campaign with the Julii, now I don't know who to try next.
