i got three mages in my party and they don't cast any offensive spells even though i configured the scripts for each of them....
or mage cannot cast a spell if he holds a two hand weapon....

I've never heard of anything like not being able to cast offensive spells because your using a 2 handed weapon but the A.I is pretty bad in those scripts - my mages only ever cast magic missile before stopping any offensive casting.
So basically i wouldnt advise using the scripts (but i kinda enjoy doing all the micro-management of manual spell casting) although this might not be a popular view

I find that scripts tend to result in my mages zapping off spells whenever I meet a low level wandering monster which would be easy meat for Minsc or my paladin. Turn off the AI, use Pause a lot and keep full control of spells and ammo. This also prevents characters wandering into a zone which you are about to hit with an area effect.
