Deus Ex, but (imo) it's not a strict shooter; more of an RPG.

It got moved to the same forum (as thread 755, or 775, or 1755, or 1775, or something), and then was apparently deleted as a duplicate, since this thread stuck around despite the move.

[IMG] I'm not sure what happened or who moved what around. If one of the mods did anything with this thread (moved it around or whatever), please send me a PM describing exactly what you did and I'll see if I can re-link the poll file to the thread. There's a bug in UBB which causes this now and then... yet another reminder we really need to make the switch.

Doom, the one and only :D

Aside from that, quite a few shooters I've played were very unusual, and those tend to be the most memorable. Dark Forces was great for having the "A new hope" mood, and Jedi Knight was even better with its "Empire Strikes Back" mood. Both had excellent level design, to boot.

Hexen was fantastic for its time. The "hub" system was quite innovative in this type of game, and the addition of scripts to the engine made for a lot of unexpected things going off.

No One Lives Forever 2 wins for sheer originality. The game was so much fun because of all the strange situations it put you in (the sword fight is particularly memorable)

I like Quake (the first one) for its odd mix of medieval and technology (a product of disagreement between Romero and the rest of the group... goes to show fragmentation within the designers is sometimes a good thing). Unreal has some of the best level design I have ever seen in any game.

[IMG] UBB has managed to delete the poll file, so I can't recover the poll, sorry... you'll have to recreate it if you want it back.

Half Life, Half Life 2 (brilliant, both of them), Medal of Honour: Allied Assault, Unreal Tournament.

    They're the boys.

Deus Ex is a superb game... But not a great shoot em up, IMO. Quake III wins in the multiplayer field for super streamlined, fast, in your face action. A real thrill ride. Call of Duty 2 features an excellent singleplayer experience and great multiplayer at a somewhat lower pace - not a disadvantage per sé.
Medal of Honour (Allied Assault, Breakthrough and Spearhead) were very good games, but are now somewhat aged.
Other then that, I can't remember any shooters I played, so they weren't that memorable.
