Silly question about motherboards

    K, so this is more of a stupid question than any but... I have an nvidia 570SLI mobo. I currently have a geforce card in it (cant afford to make use of SLI presently). Now, i'm wondering if I can put an ATI gfx card into it and, if so, if it'll run fine? I know I wont be able to use Crossfire(i assume, it being an SLI board), but it should work fine, no? (the brain says yes, but you never know)

    I'd rather not put an ATI card there, really. Maybe you'd rather hold on a bit and make use of SLI with an nVidia card when you can afford it? It's not like you desperately need an upgrade now. I have an old GF5900XT on a Celeron 2.4 Ghz system with 512 MB RAM and games still run well. ;)

    But to answer your question, yes a single ATI video card will work fine in a SLI motherboard.

    Good to hear. No, i'm not planning on buying a new card anytime soon, but the recent buyout of ATI by AMD got me worrying. Thanks for the aid.

    IIRC, to make the cards work in SLI, they both need to be the same model. Otherwise you might have to disable the other card.
